As an aside, does anyone know why we aren't supposed to add them when they're at the end of a section?

I believe the header, for the next crew section, is supposed to act like a new group header and end the previous one.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

So in your reasoning we could only use dividers in the art section of the crew.

Ah, you're thinking the problem doesn't appear there since the art section is at the end? Unfortunately, the same bug still rears it's ugly head then, showing any local-only "Other" crew as part of that divider in the art section.

But "Other" crew isn't contributed to the online. The local use of end group dividers isn't the problem here because everyone is free to add/remove dividers locally.

Agreed: of course it isn't. I just didn't understand your "So in your reasoning we could only use dividers in the art section of the crew" comment - I didn't (and still don't) see where Silence_of_Lambs implied that.

Well he said that the use of dividers is optional and it would be better to leave them out because the last group divider in other sections than the art crew will not end till the next divider in the next crew section. At least that is how I understood his last posting.

I interpreted this rule differently: "Do not add a group end divider at the end of the cast, or at the end of a crew section." I interpreted crew section as the whole crew table, so meaning that competely at the end of the crew credits the use of a group end divider isn't allowed.

Then it would have said "Do not add a group end divider at the end of the crew section", like it does for cast, not "at the end of a crew section.

Edit: Paul, I would edit your notes to make specific mention of the bug, I'd include the link but I can't find the original thread.

There's a thread in the Contribution Rules Committee Forum which can be found here. Although that's not going to be available for everyone to view. I don't know where any other threads are located.

Am I the only one who sees absolutely no difference between the above two images?

Yes.

Look at the "role" indicated in the second line of the highlighted section.

Seeing how partial contributions are allowed, then yes you could say they are optional as you don't have to enter them.

It's possible it was written that way to cater for episodic profiles where there are multiple crew sections. In a way Corne is right, it could be read both ways.

Yes, well, in that regard, everything is optional, indeed - nothing new there. Since noting that doesn't add anything to any discussion, including this one, I just assumed he hinted at something specific...
