The voters just need to learn that, for the reasons RHo mentioned, parsing no longer matters.  They have already learned this for capitalization.

From (extensive) personal experience, I can assure you that they haven't "already learned this for capitalization", and they won't for parsing either.

You must be dealing with a completely different group of voters than I am.  I check the votes for every profile that comes through my queue and, for some time now, I have only seen one voter vote 'no' because a name had the capitalization changed.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I'm currently voting on a contribution.

It has Paul "Salty"//Brincat in it.
Correct would be Paul/"Salty"/Brincat.

Did I understand correct, that this doesn't make a change?
Just for the users for that it is the first credit of him they download it adds the "wrong" parsing?

That would still be an instant no vote for me since the one thing that is covered for parsing in the rules is nick names. Per rules they must be in the middle name field.

Thanks for the comments Pete and Skip.

I really thought I made a mistake.

Btw, the contributor corrected it. It was a good team work.

It does change the online profile. And users downloading this profile would get the wrong Paul "Salty"//Brincat in their database if that would be the first addition of this name to their database. Only users who already have the correct Paul/"Salty"/Brincat in their local database would not suffer from the wrong update.

Therefore I would still vote No. On the other hand, if the parsing is neither evident nor documented, I would not vote No.
