I'm the contributor for this.. I have a dvd somewhere in my library I think it is First Blood, and this edition has the running audio commentary (as a menu option) as text in French only But not English.. therefore the button for Text that reads commentary should be this..
These Star Trek editions 1 thru 7 have an option thru the menu control that enable a 'pop up' commentary for interesting little tidbits that have been placed corresponding with what we see on the screen. The authors of this 'trivia' is little bits of interesting information that have nothing to do with what the commentators are discussing on the audio track about the production of each film.
There are not too many dvds on the market that have this bit of info/option which is very similar to what the music videos have as a pop up videos..
So in keeping with' what Profiler is all about ' I thought it might be an interesting avenue to pursue and to have  Other Features to mention this feature . since it is a type of trivia and Ken so kindly include Trivia as a check box  for Subtitle.. but It appears that third of you do not care for this to be brought out .. So I have pulled them all for now.. and localized it myself...
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

If the DVD calls it a text commentary, then I'd go with that just for simplicity's sake.

If the DVD doesn't identify what it is, then it's kind of a slippery line between random facts (trivia track) and a more in-depth and fairly continuous text narrative about the making of the film.

Kinda funny you call it a " 'pop up' commentary" in one sentence then call it trivia in the next. Seems even you aren't sure exactly what to call it.

Good call on pulling the contributions I think. Without official input from someone at Invelos it's simply a matter of personal preference as to what these are.

The reason why the confusion of the name is : I like to call it a trivia text  but others say Nope it's a commentary text., So I went with commentary text and trivia text and others say Nope it's not Trivia. .If you tick the box  called commentary still others will say it's not a commentary ,.

If the box art says text commentary so be it. .But if you spend anytime at all with any of the seven Star Trek Movies and watch the running text  while you listen to the audio commentary you'll agree that it is 'trivia' ., and not additional commentary.  The dictionary defines "trivia" as: Insignificant or inessential matters; trifles.  Commentary is described as: a written explanation or criticism or illustration that is added to a book or other textual material..

oh boy are we back to this again ..
Contributor is wanting to remove text commentary because subtitles are used already .. (Star Trek series)

script Dialogue subtitles and text commentary ( trivia pop ups) are two different oranges , that's why the 'produce store'  charges more or less for the other ..
Otherwise the sign would read all oranges same price ..

IOW we would never be able to locate text commetary unless we read the rear of the scan individually..
If we can at least keep text commentary in place it makes for a better find on a filter search...

Looks like the Text Commentary thing may have changed.

I haven't noticed this change before, but the rules lists Text Commentary as being one of those to use for the Commentary check box.

Link

I wonder if Ken made the change to the rules and never got around to renaming the check box just Commentary.

Nope... Text Commentary has always been there in the rules. At least it has been there for years anyway.

I just never noticed it I guess.

Still wish Ken would rename the check box.

Sorry gang, but I completely missed how text commentaries are meant to be represented. It doesn't make any sense to me that they would appear under an audio commentary listing. I have withdrawn them and will keep them local because it make more sense to me to appear under subtitles because they have to be read with the eyes and don't have audio at all.
