You can't compare SVT with BBC, and especially not SF.
BBC were AFAIK always called BBC, while SVT is a gradual "modernization", because it's the Swedish way of being "hip" to say SVT. Har-har...

Same with SF.

But more seriously, I'm qouting this from SF.se's site:

1998 delades SF upp i två fristående bolag, AB Svensk Filmindustri, som distribuerar och producerar film, och SF Bio AB, som äger och driver den största biografkedjan i Sverige.

English:
In 1998 SF was divided into two independent companies: AB Svensk Filmindustri, who distribute and produce movies, and SF Bio AB, who own and run the largest cinema franchise in Sweden.

So, SF is just an abbreviation and nothing official.
I'd say it's the same with SVT.

SVT is clearly official, it's used everywhere on their website and publications. It has nothing to do with being "hip".

SVT seems to use their names interchangeably.

SF is probably mostly used in the company logo, not in actual written credits. But I'm not sure, and there are probably exceptions.

Then we have things like SF Norge...

I'm reading... This means they ARE to be called Sveriges Television, not SVT.

I agree SF Norge would be a valid media company.

No, it's not. You aren't supposed to use suffixes per the rules!
SF is still short for Svensk Filmindustri.

I think a more interesting case is if the short form SF should be allowed as a company name.

Or SVT instead of Sveriges Television.

Suomen Filmiteollisuus (translation: Finnish film industry) also uses the SF acronym, so no

It's not at all "clear". And official how and to whom?

Look at the pdf document:
"Sveriges Television (SVT) is a public service company"
"SVT" is within parenthesis.

Address:
Sveriges Television

It's not the same company. Since you already dismissed SF it would only be SF and not Sveriges Filmindutri, since it's credited as SF Norge, not Svensk Filmindustri Norge. You're just contridicting yourself.

Maybe you need to read the document more carefully and interpret it on a more professional level – and see my above post.

Which shows us like I just said that they use both names in writing. Often you will find SVT without any mention of Sveriges Television. In fact, it's even more common.

Yes SF is short for Svensk Filmindustri. The Norwegian branch is called SF Norge. And as a mediadistributer in Norway it says on the cover as mentioned before: Distributed by SF Norge, hence it's valid to enter it like this as MC.

OK. So can ANYONE ELSE, except Kinoniki come with some substantial arguments, regarding this? Or should I call SVT in person?

The "SF" debate is just ridiculous!

Whats the official name? Here the BBC equivalent uses the name YLE, but thats a brand, the official name is Yleisradio. The company must have an official name, and thats what we should use. I'm sure theres also an official database in Sweden about companies?

That's a strange question. Why wouldn't I argue something that is supported by facts instead of opinions?
