Additionally, in my opinion, none of the films from the OP should have Music as a genre.

As far as I am concerned music should ONLY be used for video collections/concerts etc....otherwise ANY film that contains music would have that genre added.

OP ?  sorry I'm a bit long in the tooth and some of these 'short cuts' confuse me.. (Original Productions?  ) ...
anyway I see a lot of ones here have never seen or taken the time for  Francis Ford Coppola's -One From The Heart ., and that 'drama' is shot all on stage with wonderful lighting and photographic effects. The music by Tom Wait & Crystal Gayle set the mood and are never seen  on Camera .. This film is definitely Music genre and not Musical in my books..  But as Skip says .. 'You know what they say about genre.. To each his own'  ..  and I still don't see Bonnie and Clyde as a comedy ..

Agreed.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

not agreed here.., I seem to have 100 % approval for Fantasia . .as that is the main character of the film and it's counterpart Fantasia 2000 must have Music as it's main or top three Genre ..

In my own 'locked off ' profiles I have films such Once Upon A Time in The West/ America  marked as I find the music most spellbinding to the art on screen..  Of course all films ( except China Syndrome) have a soundtrack  but a lot of Great films including 2001 and Clockwork Orange again to me have that magic formula for Music to be in that category ...

You will note that Pantheon said, "video collections/concerts etc."  Fantasia, because it is  animation set to classical music with no dialogue, would fit.  To be clear, the Music genre should be used for films that are music only or are about music.

That doesn't make sense to me. You might as well argue that comedy should only be used for stand-up concerts, otherwise any movie with jokes in will get called comedy. Most genres don't have a bright line delineating them. If This Is Spinal Tap doesn't have the music genre, that means the genre isn't useful.

I would only allow the ancient Greek definition of comedy.

Just my 2 cents on this:
I would use Genre Music just for this typical Music DVDs with concerts, Music Vids, ...
Musical as Genre is imho used for movies, where big parts of the story are told in songs.

But as always on Genres, it's all a thing of personnel preference and understanding.
