If someone wants to see the colors, look at the back cover scan.
No need to make the overview more complicated.

bold != colored

What exactly was DVDProfiler good for??

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Certainly not for overviews, since we enter data that are quite never overviews (often just advertising and spoilers : just have a look to the first post of this thread  ).

Dvdprofiler is perfect to catalog dvd you own, you wish, you loan..., it can allow you to recognize actors you don't know (with headshots), it allows you to link actors or crew with movies in which they played (this is local only feature, online doesn't allow that at all...). It gives you technical data about the media on which you'll watch the movie (aspect ration, languages, subtitles...)... and many other features. Overview, seen as a written recopy of the scan that is displayed in the next window, has no interest.

While I understand what you are saying, sudeur, and to some degree agree. At the same time, i am not interested in YOUR idea of an Overview OR the attendant combat that would accrue from users entering their own Overview as we watched themm battle for WHOSE overview is the best on a WEEKLY or even bi-weekly basis. WE have been there and watched that  and don't need to see users strokingtheir own egos by making everyone else miserable with perpetual updates.

Words in colors in the should be differentiated from the rest of the rest of the overview just as bold and italics are. This would then be following the rules as written to "Copy the overview from the back of the DVD case exactly as written, including capitalization of words exactly as shown on the back of the case."

As it is now we are not following the rules that Ken has written because we do not have the ability to. Since there is opposition to the use of bold to denote the color difference, we might use single quotations around that word.

This is a solution to the Rules violation, and can show that there is a difference in the overview, in this case the word is colorized. This is to do what we used to with bold and italics even though it was not specifically addressed in the rules as far as I know.

Are there any other suggestions to solve this? Or is this is an acceptable alternative? Or, maybe Ken can address this to his satisfaction.

Edit: Corrected spelling error...hey it's MY "overview"!

On main topic even though it was withdrawn. colored text does not mean bold. Seems to me the rules are clear that bold=bold italic=italic and there is nothing else, per the written rules, format wise that we record.

@Kathy
The last thing I would want to do is go back to using single quotes for anything. The only reason we did it for bold and italics before is because the rules told us to. Which was a rule I hated with a passion at the time... but did it. That rule was removed by Ken when he added bold and italic formatting. So please lets not try to put them back in for color... or any other reason (other then them actually being on the cover of course).

What about the font? The size? It's obvious that the copy-exactly rule refers to the content, and not to the styling.

Use only the styling elements available at Edit Profile -> Overview. No other.

I've got a lot more important things to worry about besides text formatting.  It is the "text" that matters.

Sorry, but I just can't get excited over this.

I personally don't care one way or the other but there are people who do. I am only discussing the color issue at this time - not any others that might or not be brought up now or in the future.

Does anyone have other suggestions other than quotation marks?

I don't know a thing about programming but I wonder, is it difficult to implement color into the database?

I personally wouldn't want any colors added... or any other notation for them. In my opinion just do as most do now and just ignore any change in colored text.

Plus there is a downside to color text. You get a color that matches or is even close to matching the background color of the overview field and that text will be between hard and impossible to read.
