You might take a moment to reflect on the difference in tone between TigiHof's post and some other examples of "this type of post" you're apparently referring to. TigiHof was civil and matter-of-factly, while on the other end of the spectrum, we've seen such threads where the poster basically started out by calling all the voters idiots. IMHO, that makes all the difference: you get what you give.

Dr. Professor is certainly one to jump on people here (something that would be hard for anyone to deny since he himself admits to doing it). In my experience "people" have less patience with those who attack others and even look for attacks where they may not be present. Tigi on the other hand hardly posts here anymore. Is it right his post didn't get the same reaction a similar post from the Professor got? Probably not. But it's like the old saying, if you don't want to get crapped on don't act like a toilet! You can't constantly be arguing with people and then, when you decide not to, expect everyone to just go with it.

Please don't misunderstand.  I am not trying to defend Skip here, I was just refuting the argument that it was tone, not content, that people took issue with.  It is neither tone nor content, it is reputation and that is what is sad.

As to the rest, I sometimes forget that I have been trained to take each and every post as an individual entity.  If the post is civil, I will respond in kind regardless of the poster.  It took lots of time, and a desire to keep a steady paycheck, for me to get there...though, I will admit that I am not always successful but, as you said, that's just human nature.  I do, however, understand where you are coming from.  A lot of bridges have been burned and I have to remember that...and, yea, green arrow for reminding me.
