| Posted: | | | | Definitely New Zealand. And we definitely need more countries (for instance, I have films from 11 countries that aren't listed). And we need a co-production option -> even if it was as simple as the option of "Multiple" in the menu. One problem I find is that I can't find the spot in the Contribution Rules that specifies what you are supposed to do. Yes, I understand that the field is for the home country of the production company. But I can't find it in the rules where that is stated, so if we were to enable the option of adding multiple countries, or an entry for "Multiple" we should have a written rule that specifies that the field is for actual production companies rather than financing companies. Or have I missed where the rule is and can someone point it out. If so, please. Sometimes I miss things right under my nose. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

How would that help with my concern?
Very simple: by eliminating any need to prioritise the countries - which was your concern as I understood it. With a checkbox solution, countries would simply come in alphabetical order. Take a look at the Subtitle section of the Edit Profile screen to see what I mean. No, my concern was that we absolutely NEED to have ranked countries. Otherwise you'll end up changing to British production which had a couple co-producers (aka credit givers) to a Australia/Belgium/France/Germany/Switzerland/UK production and you won't be able to decipher this list at all. | | | - Jan |

I think I know what you mean, but your example supports dee1959jay's argument, it's simply an alphabetical sorting of countries. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | @hydr0x: I now understand that prioritising countries is what you actually want. Whereas I acknowledge a checkbox solution will not support that, I can't see how a system to prioritise countries could ever work. Defining criteria for such prioritisation, and then doing the research and documenting the results in a verifiable way would constitute a complete nightmare. At least that's what I think. |

| Posted: | | | | As others have said - this was fully discussed and agreed when the films came out.
It's New Zealand - and on the few occasions when someone has tried to change this to US, it's been quickly corrected back to New Zealand.

Indeed, which is why we have to live with the one country only solution. Priorities don't work and a pure listing renders the field useless (remember, we can sort and filter by it, and also do statistics). @goblins I wrote them down in alphabetical order on purpose | | | - Jan |

| Posted: | | | | I agree priorities won't work, but I also think there are plenty of cases where a choice of any single CoO would be arbitrary, e.g. quite a few franco-italian productions. So I disagree that we "have to live with the one country only solution". |

You seriously see THAT as the lesser evil than not being able to enter true 50/50 coproductions? | | | - Jan |

| Posted: | | | | Yes I do. If production companies from a great many countries were INDEED involved in the production of the movie, DVDP should reflect that. Any choice for a maximum number of countries would be arbitrary. So we'll simply have to agree to disagree then.
I do think though that CoO should finally be covered in the rules, explaining when and when not to enter a country as CoO (e.g. Production company YES, merely funding NO). | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

New Line Cinema presents (funding/distribution) A WingNut Films production (primary production) ...if the credits include an "in association with' credit, those are the secondary production companies. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
