I suppose that after such an opinion, users like Skipnet50 will soon jump on you. He is VERY proud to be the father of those rules and for him it is a CRIME to say anything against them.

Not quite correct,
even Skip agrees that the rules need to be fixed (at least I understood him that way).
What he and several other users (me included) don't like is that some users break the rules intentionally.
Requesting a change is one thing, publicly announcing to break the rules is something completely different.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Well I can say this for sure...if it gets declined again, it will be the last time I contribute.  I'm done with finicky people and insane rules.  I'm sure there's a good reason in someone's eyes, but looking at the overview, it should be obvious that it's accurate and fine.

As Unicus says, try submitting only some updates. You don't have to correct everything in one go. Getting a profile to match the rules can be quite awkward, and some of the rules themselves are vague and unclear so misinterpretation can happen. I suggest that you start small and update just a few things. I'd avoid cast & crew and cover scans completely until you're more familiar with the system as they seem to bring the most "finicky" people out of the woodwork.
But the revised notes that you posted look perfect, they're concise and clear. As others have said, the only worry is the roles update. If I were you I'd submit without the cast for now and see how it goes.

If this is considered to be inaccurate:

"When it comes to gathering material for his Miami Record-Dispatch newspaper column, Dave Barry (Harry Anderson) never has to look any further than his family and friends, including perky wife Beth (DeLane Matthews), young sons Tommy (Zane Carney) and Willie (Andrew Ducote), best buddy and editor Kenny Beckett (Shadoe Stevens) and recently divorced neighbor and pal Shel Baylor (Meshach Taylor). Based on the award-winning columns of humorist Dave Barry, Dave's World: The First Season is a 23-episode, three-disc DVD collection overflowing with wit, warmth and all the write stuff!"

...then the rules needs to be changed, that's the bottom line!

If the TV credits do not list role names for the principal casts (which is common), then the rules would let you use the names from the cover, or from an insert (if there is one).  The rules would require that you indentify where you got them.  And it wouldn't hurt to include a statement that those role names are missing (as Giga suggested).  Otherwise, there would be virtually NO role names given for the principal casts of TV series.

I never saw anybody say "I want to break the rules".
I saw people ask for slight changes in the rules, as to correct typos when there are some, or use common sense on odd points. This is typically the kind of criminal request that brings on his author the flames from some other user.

I said many times that dvdprofiler is a great program. Ken updates it from time to time, showing that he always tries to improve it. But rules are God, here forever, in the mind of their self proclamed "father".

And on we go. Your post sums you up quite well, surfeur. Profiler has Rules, but you want to play YOUR way instead of Profiler's and as long as that remains true. you will continue to harp about it at every opportunity, to the point that i suspect a lot of users simply tune you out. Who their father is is irrelevant, and pretty insulting on your part, but the point is that they were done as they were for a specific reason, one which you either refuse to understand or are simply incapable of understanding, you want it YOUR way, which would be utter disaster, we have been there before.

Credits

Crew and Cast
If a film does not have standard credits, use the following rules:

    * If an actor is credited by name but does not have an associated role, you may use another source to identify the role . In each case, list Actor’s names and roles (when given) exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited.
>8 >8

Skip as you so nicely quoted

and your reply:
Quote:
Roles added to the cast as stated in the overview on the DVD cover

Rules violation.

The Rules specifically state to use thye film credits, exactly as they aree listed. The Cover is NOT used for this data.

Skip

If the cast would only be credited by name and had no roles credited (mostly the case for the main cast on TV movies or series), the use of the dvd cover for the roles would no be a rule violation.

Quite right.  Only a problem if there are roles in the actual credits.

When dealing with close ratios such as .2.35, 2.39 or 2.40, I think it would be very hard to make any kind of claim that the AR is 2.35 and not the 2.40 claimed on the box, that would very easily fall into the realm of human error.

I have now twice been denied, in the past,  to contribute 2.40:1 when the box said 2.4:1  ..    ?  same thing isn't it??  40 is the same as 4.    not .04  ?/

Indeed 2.40:1 is exactly the same ratio as 2.4:1. You should find a basic maths site and link it to the no people.

Agreed but, in this case, I got the impressions that he did not want to use the credits...not that the credits didn't have roles listed.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.

I haven't seen the box yet that says 2.4, the industry appears to have made the choice to use numbers to hundredth place. I won't say they aren't out there, terry, but I don't recall seeing one yet. What title would you be referring to.

I don't do ratios by the box anymore: there sometimes way off. I take a screenshot and use irfanview to measure the aspect ratio: as explained here.

I don't know which he's referring to but all of my 2.40:1 WB Blu-ray titles only show as 2.4:1

Not really, the wording: missing roles
