the rules don't cover these situations. The link is on the dvd in the end credits

Yes, there is a link to www.bbc.co.uk/comedy in the end credits of each episode

So that would give the user the possibility to enter the correct titles for each episode instead of the
Episode 1, Episode 2 as this is not third party information. The credits point to that site.

Wrong. The rules are absolutely clear on this matter.

"Take the episode title from the episode itself, or from elsewhere on the DVD or DVD packaging, exactly as shown. If all episode titles are entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead."

"Enter the episode number and title in the divider that marks the beginning of that episode's credit list. The divider should be formatted as "1. Episode Title", or "Episode 1" if no title is available."

Nowhere does the rule state that outside sources, including an "Official Web Site", for Episode Titles is allowed for contribution purposes. What you do in your local database is your business but keep it local.

Personally I think it would be also pointless to use these Website titles.

Why? Because you have no logical link to the DVD you hold in your hand. Someone may call the first episode "Downsize", but if I were to say "show me 'Downsize'" how would you find the right disc/episode? If neither cover nor booklet nor DVD menu nor the episode itself refers to it as such how would you be able to play the correct episode unless you know exactly that the first episode is meant?

I understand:

...
or from elsewhere on the DVD (= the link provided in the credits of each episode on dvd)
...
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

each episode is numbered in dvd profiler:

you can not call it whatever you want:

as you can see on the official website: each episode is numbered and has a title:

Sorry but the rules clearly state that the episode titles have to be on the DVD or the packaging. It doesn't matter how official the website is, it's not on the DVD or on the packaging.

But now you are leaping. You're making a jump from the cover (object A) to something that is mentioned on the cover (the website, object B)

Object A is allowed as source, object B is not.

Still the www-link is there for a purpose, it's no such a big leap to follow that link. I agree i would be better, if there was a rule change for it, explaining it more (allowing or disallowing this usage from a weblink in the End Credits on DVD)

where already away from the cover, where in the end credits of each episode on the dvd.

But the end credits belong in the "object A group"

object A group: Take the episode title from the episode itself, or from elsewhere on the DVD or DVD packaging, exactly as shown.

object B group: the website, ...

I am fairly certain that "the episode itself" covers the end credits as well.

even if you take from "the episode itself": in the end credits is the given weblink to that web site and that is not 3d party but first hand.

If the episode name was part of the web address I could understand that being acceptable, but it's not.
The rules say we must use the episode name "exactly as shown" - but the dvd credits and packaging show us nothing with respect to episode names. The fact that they give us a web link that does give us that info is irrelevant - the episode name itself is not shown.

The Website's content isn't printed on the package, is it?

Because that's the only other acceptable source for episode names other than the DVD itself.

there you're saying it your self on the dvd or in the credits. This information is in the credits: www.bbc.co.uk/comedy that is a reference and that is sufficient for me. It is information taken out of the end credits, what else would you do with a website adress?

I don't know why you keep trying to invent a new rule that is not there.

A. The Episode of the show.
B. The DVD Packaging.
C. The DVD.
D. An insert.

None of those = a url printed on any of the following. If you could see the contents of the website via playing the DVD, you'd have a better arguement. But, you can't, so its a moot point until such a time that the rules are changed to add the option to using an official site for the show.

Also, it may be first party... but for our purposes, it is second party. First party for us is this site and only this site.
Signature banned: Reason out of date...
