Similar to many I have a mental list of "people I know try to follow the Rules and usually do excellent updates" and, though I don't automatically vote Yes (as anyone can make an error) I tend to believe them if they say "taken from end credits" or "regions checked from actual disc" without checking them myself!

Agree, although what they write is important as well.
For instance, "regions checked from actual disc" would be a bit generic, as different software can sometimes give different results.
I like better "regions verified with VSOInspector and NeroInfoTool" (or PowerDVD, DVDInfoPro, or whatever).

Like most others.. I do not pre-approve anything... as anyone can make a mistake. it happens to all of us. But like most others I have a mental list of people I feel I can trust and know always do their best to follow the rules. And then I also have a mental list of those that I wouldn't trust anything from and know I must go over everything they done to be sure.

I try to ignore who submits to the database -- in an attempt to be as unprejudiced as possible.

I look at cover scans with a highly critical eye: I'm trained in this and I work at scanning every day. I tend to pass (vote neutral) on a few detailed data submissions, leaving the voting to those who take the time to doublecheck the on-screen details.

A good scan is a good scan; a poor scan is a poor scan -- no matter who submits either.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

I agree on the scans - I also have a critical eye, even more so now that I properly calibrated my monitor using Spyder2pro with rather surprising results!

Don't ever trust what you read in the contribution notes. We got one i Denmark that copy'n'paste contribution info from the US contribution. More than once I've seen wrong info og regions e.g the contribution info reads "verified by NeroTool" and it has only r2 but the disc is r2,4 or something like that.

So my moral is: Don't just read the contribution info and feel secure...
