can someone tell me if there is a thread somewhere that says everything has to be resubmitted for updates. i realize that there are new tick boxes and info added, but i'm confused as to why i'm getting updates that simply say "new contribution" when the original profile has existed for years.

Invelos DVDProfiler 3.0 doesn't use the old database that Intervocative DVDProfiler used. When we started, there were only a few hundred titles in the DB DVDProfiler 3.0 uses. Now it's close to 3000. If we weren't doing this and you picked up a catalogue title, you would have to download that profile with the old program and export it to the new program.
Did that clear things up? thank you very much. that's the part i missed. krik | | | "Vampirism is still not a disease, Julia. Vampires are the living dead...dead...dead..." |

krik I would add that anything up for vote with the description 'new contribution' has been made by someone who hasn't noticed that the title is already available in the database. | | | Guns don't kill people. Hammers do. |

I've just noticed it seems to be chucked in automatically at Invelos' end once something has been released. Just noticed one of my contributions includes it in the cont. notes when I hadn't put it there. Ignore anything I say. | | | Guns don't kill people. Hammers do. |

| Posted: | | | | When I checked Wednesday night I had 2,428 updates to check. I shudder to think what it's up to now. I may just wait a few weeks for the 'credited as' and new disc IDs to shake out a bit. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

I have a felling you're gonna be wishing there was an UNDO button for that mistake Judging by some of the crap I have on 600 / 1000 profiles I think you might regret that decision. In the rush to be the first to submit any given profile there are some horrific enteries getting through. |

| Posted: | | | | I had about 3,000 for the first download, checked every damn one of them; wait for it; 3 and a half hours later as it was downloading the internet and my computer decided they'd had enough and froze. LOL, egg for me it was no rush to gert there first, it was simply to help grow the Db as quickly as possible. Though I do wish I didn't have to contend with my own updates, another hint to Ken. Actually, this is a 'glitch' in the system...well, not really a glitch more of a lag in the system. I explained it in another thread, but I will post it again here... One person submits the profile because it is not in the system. Before it is processed, another person submits the same profile thinking it is not in the system. Because the first profile hasn't been processed yet, the system believes the second one to be a 'new contribution' as well. Since the system is treating the second contribution as a new contribution, there is nothing for the contributor to compare it to. There is no indication that it is not new. Once the first one is accepted and released, the system treats the second one as an update and it is put into the voting system. But, because it was initially treated as a new profile, there are no notes. Hope that helps. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
