| | Posted: | | | | This used to be a huge point of discussion back in the early days of RSDL discs; when we set up www.digitallyobsessed.com years ago we included the location of the layer change on all RSDL discs for reference. Now I think I'm the only reviewer who still includes it as a matter of course. Our site is a pretty good reference for these timings, if you're interested, with over 9000 Region 1 reviews, especially on older DVDs. But if they're just dual layer as opposed to RSDL, and the layer change doesn't fall in the middle of a program, then there's no place to locate it.
If you have a Sony DVD player, most of them have a very useful graphic that tells you exactly where the layer change is, so you can spot it even on ones that are authored in a manner so as to be invisible (Criterion is very good at this). | | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

[...] I do agree that layer skip info is not of much value. But why do you insist in the ability for making full audits, if you are not interested in some part of the profiles? Me for example, I never correct release dates and leave the field blank on new profiles because I'm not interested in that information. Not as strict but similar I deal with SRP and genres. |

I have seen people requested this data when they're having problems with playback. So if a movie locks up an hour into it, they might ask where the layer change is on a message board to see if that is what is causing the lockup.
