We do not and I doubt that we will ever pay the required licensing fee of a minimum $15,000/yr and I would bet it would be higher still, the price of the program would have to go up substantially. It is easy to get a feel for just how much by looking at other programs that do license the use of IMDb data, I would guess we would have to go to $60 to cover it.

We this and we that, are you an Invelos representative?

Stop making a fool of yourself.
You are not related to Ken, so STOP speaking on his behalf.

I never have and never will if believe otherwise then the fool is you, amigo.. Some people just like to try and finnd excuses to make trouble, Kulju didn't surprise me with his comment, stupid as it was, but you did.

Did it ever occur to you that we r3eferred to users and not Ken, of course not because you were looking to cause trouble. So for those that lack the intelligence, let me make it clear. We as users have never paid a license fee to IMDb/Amazon, nor do I think we ever will. The program would no longer be able to be sold for $30 and based on those that do pay a licensing fee I would expect the programn to double in price. Is that good enough jerks, mow.

I think a lot of people are going completely off base with many things. Whatever you think the "expect presence" means, I'm sure everyone agrees that Invelos are not involved enough in answering questions to help people contribute.

I found this sentence quite interesting. After all, many complaints in regards of the missing "support" are aimed at the lack of updates of the rules.

The funny twist: the database is Invelos' asset, one of the main selling points. The database can only get better, if the rules are updated and everyone applies them the same way to the profiles before contribution. So, it would appear the database as it is now is "good enough"...? In which case, what are we all worried about, contributions just need to continue the way they are going now?

The database , IMO, is the main selling point of this (again excellent) program. It's not that the rules need constant updating, just updated during that rare occassion that Ken/Gerri make a forum post to help the interpretations of the rules. I think its a kick in the c unt to those few users that do make so many fantastic contributions (I already bigged up the UK folk earlier in the thread) that Invelos ignore any threads that could help guide us users.

What about those awesome foks with the plug-ins. Some great work and without these people the place would be worse off. Those that try to answer technical questions (because Invelos sure as hell won't chime in) are fantastic and again the place would be worse off without them.

I actually had a mate just ask what he should use to catalogue his collection. I told him this was great but the support was lacking. He's enjoying dvdaf despite the lack of features and guess what, despite the fact it is free, he has had a lot of help from the staff over there when he has needed it.

I do not know any better program than dvdprofiler specially to display headshots and screencaptures

If that is the main reason you use Profiler; then, no, I can't suggest anything else.

And, actually, it's against Invelos forum rules to promote other programs...although if I did I'm sure that would get a response from Invelos of the invisible screeners.

However, a simple google search for 'Alternatives to DVDProfiler' will bring up some interesting options.
Admittedly, none of them (currently) offer the gallery/headshots features.
But, the program I use for my book/music/game collection does have an active forum that the creator is a constant presence in...so there are definitely options out there.

Personally, I would never, EVER, use any program other than Profiler for my DVD/BD collection - but, I'm also happy to follow the contribution rules and contribute to the database to improve it for other users.
Any alternative programs out there are for the lazy who don't want to do any work and simply want to download a profile with everything done OR they only want IMDB data.

IMO this is the best progam on the market and for the price you can not beat it. Maybe the support could be better of course it could. If your not happy use another program, for the last 15 pages all you have been doing is beating a dead horse. Get a life! I know there are some people out there would B..ch even if the program was free.

In fact, dvdprofiler is also perfect for me (I mean the program). I never thought about an alternative before your post suggesting it.

I also would be happy to share correct data with other users, as I do for headshots and screencaptures. But as long as rules ask to share wrong data, contributing those is beyond what I can do.

You should maybe read those 15 pages then and you may realise that people ARE happy with the program. The thing they are not happy with is the lack of face by Invelos.

I always smile when I see your name on a contribution as I know you go the whole hog. I enjoy contributing and do so as much as I can but I have stopped doing cast and crew because I don't enjoy that part anymore.

I agree with your entire post and as this is the best program on the market right now (for me, IMO) I too would not change over. I just want Ken to step up to the mark. As the owner and main representitive he should be doing more for in the forums so that when people are wondering if they should submit a certain credit and the forum base have mixed views, we get a definitive answer.

Like I've said repeatedly (this is a general comment), everyone who is 'complaining' likes the program, generally submits stuff, likes the community and respects what a great job Ken and the community have done with everything. All we (general comment, my opinion) want is that little bit of interaction from Invelos to make things even better. I really don't think that is a lot to ask.

And as pointed out numerous times by others, Sam. Invelos is following what it says. They most certainly do have a presence in the Forum. Just not as you wish it were. And some of us frankly, are fed up watching others whine and complain, drop it move on to something that is far more important...anything. but the endless whine is insulting. <playing world's smallest violin for Sam>

And how exactly do you know this? Last forum visit time stamp doesn't tell us anything. The point is that they must make their precence known. If we don't count three posts today last time when Ken or Gerri posted anything was more than three weeks ago.

Just not as you wish it were.

It's rediculous to hang on words 'present' and 'expected'. If your boss tells you (general you) that you have a meeting tomorrow morning at 9am and your precence is expected, you gotta be a moron to think it was just a friendly request. You must put the words to a context.

Two easy solutions, go away completely or don't read this thread. Simple isn't it?

Exactly nobody is force to read everything, but I understand that some like to comment on everything whatever they have something usefull or not to say (usually those users like to act like Invelos representative wich is forbidden by the rules, but we all know they worth a big fricking nothing here).

Seriously for those who are happy with the piss poor precence we got from any invelos representatives just don't open the thread, put your hands on your ears and sing "la-la-la I can't hear you my life is a Disney film". Reading the poor excuse it was always like that is pitifull... I won't go all politics but open your history books and you will see that many things changed because people had decided that thing can change.

Maybe it's my age, or the fact that I am a parent, or the fact that I have almost died twice, or the fact that I work with special needs kids, but this argument...and I have seen similar comparisons in this and other threads...just seems, well, backwards thinking.  It isn't that we are happy with the piss poor presence, or that our life is like a Disney film, it's that it really isn't important enough to get upset about.  In fact, at least for me, it's because my life isn't a Disney film, and there are far more important things to worry about, that I can't seem to care about this insignificant issue.  But, hey, that's just me I guess.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
