| Posted: | | | | I was having a PM discussion about a Jacqueline Cristianini who I'd encountered while profiling Masters of Horror and a Jacqueline Christianini who Ninehours had encountered while profiling The Princess Bride. After much searching of the internet, only IMDB stated that they were one in the same and no other direct evidence could be found (only circumstantial). I decided to bite the bullet and email Sharpe Sound in Canada (where she works) and have just received a reply: Quote: Yes she is the same person and does not have an H in her last name, they must have made a Type-o on “Princess Bride”.

Hi there, I really hope you don't mind me contacting you, but I was wondering if you could help me by answering a question. Is Jacqueline Cristianini, the person who did the sound for Masters of Horror, the same person as Jacqueline Christianini, who did the sound for Princess Bride? It's for an extremely trivial reason - I'm cataloging my DVD collection and want to make sure all the crew link together properly even when the name is different. Many thanks if you could help me Jacqueline Cristianini is already more common according to the CLT (124 titles to 29) so no problems there. Edit: this has been accepted by the screeners | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | Carlos Gomez - currently 113/216 Carlos Gómez - currently 157/339 He has his own website: http://www.carlosgomez.com/ where i find no evidence of a diacritical over the 'o'. If all the profiles with Gómez are corrected to Gomez, including (i own these and checked): Fools Rush In: 12 profiles The Negotiator: 21 Desperado: 36 The Replacement Killers: 26 Traffic: 29 (he's uncredited so i think it's fair to use the name he obviously uses professionally) he would now be: Carlos Gomez - ???/ 340Carlos Gómez - ???/215 | | | Bad movie? At the present time this is essentially irrelevant due to a local program limitation. The local program cannot distinguish between upper and lower case, thui giving you multiple possible listings for a given name. The Online can, but the local can't. Hopefully this will be one of the issues addressed in the forthcoming 3.5 and we can proceed from there. Be patient.

Here we go again: I've been over this with you about ten times already!! In one of our earlier debates about this, I have asked you for one, just one example which indeed warrants the software to be able to have co-existing entries for two name variants with ONLY a difference in capitalization. As of yet, you have not been able to produce one single example. Here again it's obvious that what you're craving for is absolutely not needed: there is no reason for the software to be able to have entries for both "Ethan Van Der Ryn" and "Ethan van der Ryn", as these name variants obviously refer to the same person. All you need is to apply the "credited as" feature: determine which variant is used most, and then use "credited as" to indicate any difference. As such, I consider the way Ken programmed this a very wise move, and I trust he won't change it. Changing it would mean introducing additional hundreds, maybe thousands of pointless, non-linking double entries to the database. Thanks to parsing issues, we have more than enough of those already, and I'd rather have Ken focussing on a way to eliminate all of those, than creating even more of them. There is no problem here, so there's nothing to fix. Edit: I should have mentioned that this is exactly why the cast and crew database is in such a lousy state: if the program let you, you'd happily enter a new entry for "Ethan Van Der Ryn" even if you already had an existing "Ethan van der Ryn" entry (or vice-versa), while both obviously refer to the same person, and should be linked together. Now in this particular "niche" (differences in capitalisation only), the program actually forces you to use "credited as" - and quite rightly so! If only there'd be a way to do that on a wider scale, maybe then we could finally cut down on all those pointless multiple, non-linking entries for the same people. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Following a recent contribution of mine to "fix" a credit of Dave Chappelle's to what is currently the most common form of his name (David Chappelle) i was convinced by evidence provided by 8ballMax that if we lived in an ideal world of corrected profiles Dave, and not David would be the most common form. Submitted is a list of films that, if corrected, would tip the balance to Dave. (numbers listed below for individual films are those that are incorrect) This list comprehends that there are two (so far) Blu-ray Con Air profiles that list him as Dave ( forum entry) and not David, as the rest do. | | | Bad movie? We don't use "real names" in DVD Profiler. We use the film's credits to determine most commonly credited name . OK, from Invelos Credit Lookup: Shimon Wincelberg is credited in 23 titles (23 profiles) S. Bar-David is credited in 25 titles (37 profiles) Four recurrences in Shimon Wincelberg are Star Trek TOS where (I know for sure) he is credited S. Bar-David. So, the correct entry should be S. Bar-David? | | | Updated List of Accepted Birth Years | | | Last edited: by Kluge |
