I have Forum maintenance needs! The funny thing is, maintenance is being done, the forums are being moderated, and Ken does visit the forums from time to time, but there is absolutely no interaction between Invelos and the forum members (other than via the contribution system). It's a very mysterious situation. --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe Ken is doing it for the love of his baby, the software he created, but doesn't have time, or life has gone in a different direction to keep it going and updating, but keeping everything running is simpler and still works fine. Sometimes we like change for no other reason then its new and shiny, not that it no longer works.
This is not uncommon, we should simply be grateful that the software is still up, dabase is still going, website is up and we can still continue using this amazing software. |

| Posted: | | | | We can continue using this software whether Invelos.com and its online database exist or not. Invelos.com could close its doors tomorrow. I don't need to download profiles from the Invelos online database. I don't need to backup my collection at Invelos.com or have Invelos.com host an online version of my database. I'm perfectly content to add profiles locally, backup my database locally and host my own online collection. There's no online activation when going to install the software and enter my registration key and I'll always have a local backup of the required files needed in order to access the "DVD\Add to Collection..." option in the event I've performed a fresh install and find that Invelos.com is not available. The beauty of this software is the fact you aren't tied at the hip to some online server as you are with My Movies for example. I'm still using the original DVD Profiler database I created back during the early years of the DVD format. Talk about standing the test of time. To each his own naturally, but I won't be looking for a new solution if/when Invelos.com is no more. Twenty years from now I'll still be using this software to catalog my DVD's and Blu-ray's. Well, God willing. Tomorrow is promised to no one after all. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection | | | Last edited: by Lowpro |

I haven't use the online database since more than 10 years and my film collection is perfectly fine looking when I launch DVDP. My own work is better anyway so why I'd use a lesser ressource that change the data every now and them just for the fun of it. Only negative is that my online database is nothing to call home about since it doesn't use my covers as the majority of what I bought now is VOD or unreleased features from the streaming services I'm a member of... | | | Last edited: by Jimmy S |

I'll take a stab and say that you would only need a database backup and either the executable or the zip file from the products download page. | | | Thanks for your support. I haven't tried this, but can you unlock the full functionality of a new DVDP installation using your registration key without a connection to Invelos.com? --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | I'd say no considering your computer and the Invelos server can't "talk" to each other to confirm the key number... not that I'm an expert but that sound logical to me. |

It's entirely possible that the name / key combination can be verifed entirely within DVD Profiler, but I guess one would have to test it to find out. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Looks good so far. Opened a VM (Oracle VM VirtualBox) which never had a DVD Profiler installed. Switched off the network, installed Profiler and everything looked OK. While restoring a backup it warned of limitations, coz unregistered, I only restored 50. Then entered registration, new BD restore, no nagging and every profile was restored. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |
