Sorry but no she didn't. The full quote is:

For the purposes of special characters in the titles, if you can type it on a normal keyboard without using an upper ASCII character, then you can use it. So in this case, M*A*S*H would work, but the dots in between the letters in FRIENDS would not be appropriate.

I've underlined the important bit.

LOL, SpecialCharacters, hmmm, now that to me means the character map, north. Special Characters are not found on the keyboard. So I think Pete is correct in what he said. The 7 in Se7en can hardly be called a special character. It's just a routine keystroke.

I interpret "special characters" to be anything that is non-alphanumeric".

I agree, but the last time I checked both 4 and 7 were numeric, therefore not special.

And in this post, from the same thread, Ken said "The botom line is that our title rule is not intended to make the title look exactly like the title on the cover (we have cover scans for that), but to portray the title shown in standard characters."

SE7EN, L4ER CAKE and T4Xi all use standard characters, so that is what we use.  I guess, if one so desired, that statement could be twisted to mean something else, but I always thought it was fairly clear.

Right which means T4xi is correct and so is Se7en. L4yer Cake  would be correct because the backwards E IS a special character, I haven't looked I don't even know if it could replicated by the character map, but I suspect even if it is, the program would not recognize it.

I believe that is exactly what he said...meaning, Gerri's post doesn't apply because they are not special characters.  As such, you type what you see.

Just to be clear, it is not a backwards 'E', it is a curvy 'E' that resembles a backwards '3'.

Well seeing how that post is in the rules forum and therefore not accessible by all, it makes it difficult to read it let alone "twist" it.
I also notice that Ken says "The botom line is that our title rule is not intended to make the title look exactly like the title on the cover (we have cover scans for that)". That, to me, clearly means Ken intends us to enter the title of the DVD not a textual reproduction of what's on the front cover.

Yes, and since they are not "special" there is no reason to do anything with them except enter them exactly as they appear on the cover, just like any other alphanumeric character!
