The DB is a nice and convenient place to find documentation for common name without having to search for it yourself. If the 'no' voters want the documentation in the contribution, it's easy to just copy it over there.

That makes sense to me. Otherwise, what if a "Jr." has a child who becomes an actor! 

Then he becomes "III"! (Although "Jr., Jr." would be more amusing.)
