Hello all...
I would like to contribute a common name thread for songwriter James Van Heusen / Jimmy Van Heusen (1913-1990).
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006329/

Primarily known for original songs in movies such as: Bob Hope & Bing Crosby Road pictures, Throughly Modern Millie, A Hole in the Head, Ocean's 11, and many others.

CLT shows:
James Van Heusen is credited in 46 titles (139 profiles)
Jimmy Van Heusen is credited in 84 titles (199 profiles)

Note: I am only including what I could determine from the CLT that are actually Song Writer credits in the database for songs that are Original Songs, written specifically for that film.  There are several credits found in the CLT which are considered invalid by The Rules, since they are referencing the use of his songs after 1990, and not specifically written for the film for which they are being used.  (Please see more at--  http://www.invelos.com/dvdpro/contributions/Rules.aspx?display=credits ).    Feel free to confirm any additional that you may have.  Thanks!

You're quick to dismiss eight seasons of 'Married With Children' with this, but it's not that simple. Many will argue that this isn't a "song writer" credit, but a "theme by" credit. We are talking about the show's theme, after all. And no, it wasn't written specifically for 'Married With Children', but while the contribution rules demands songs to be original, there's no such demand for themes... Worse: the rules don't give *ANY* guidance on how to apply the "Theme By" credit - as so often, it's all up for grabs...!

In viewing the closing credits for several episodes of "Married With Children", they are shown as:

"Love and Marriage"
Music and Lyrics by
Sammy Cahn
and
Jimmy Van Heusen

Although it is obvious that the song is the theme, there is no actual "Theme by" credit defined.

So for now, I think to interpret this as a "Song Writer" credit, and according to The Rules, NOT VALID as an Original Song written specifically for the series.  Hope this helps answer the question...
