Good evening, Sirs,

several times now I've read that amazon shows the original release manufacturer's suggested retail price for DVDs and B-rDs.

But I can't find it.

Can you show me where it is e.g on amazon.de?

Love, bbbbb

Maybe they were referring to another web site location. The US site does although pre-orders I have found to be different than the final release. If the release date has been set, I find VideioETA more accurate, but to my knowledge the site is only for US releases..

Maybe they changed since it has been a long time since I checked them for this information. But my experience was always that Amazon used the CURRENT SRP.

The UK version has stopped showing the RRP for some time now. Maybe it's the same for where you are.

Fortunately I have only submitted SRP's on new releases.  Or in the rare case set to 0 on disc ID based child profiles when they were set and not should have been.  It is one of those fields you would rarely need to touch

If you need to verify the old one, tracking down the announcement press release on a home-video news site is usually the way to go.

Amazon's SRP doesn't necessarily reflect the original SRP when the title was first released.  Amazon is notorious for updating the SRP whenever a title receives an price decrease.

One must ALWAYS be careful of srp. The only place to get real srp. Data is the distributor and that info is not always available. When dealing with retailers they will always list srp according to whatever their particular policy might be. Because of this.you will typically find srp variation by as much as 25 cents, if you check more than one site which I always recommend. Lets say one dealer policy is to list srp ending in 7 while another is ending in 2. You could then be looking at srp values for example of 49.97 and 49.92 for the same title. This is why the rules say not to change srp values for a few cents. 49.92 and 49.97 arevyhe same thing. The distributor is likely to be either 49.99 or 49.95 but not necessarily. Usually I look at multiple sites and if I find two that match that is what o will use.

I can usually find the original SRP on dvdpricesearch. When you click a title and the small box comes up, it has relase date and srp on it. I haven't noticed the srp's changing there like amazon, which everyone is correct, re-posts every price drop as if it were the srp all along.

Some of the SRPs added lately by a heavy contributor.

first SRP 16,99 EUR:

The item on amazon.de: Ben X

first SRP 20,99 EUR:

The item on amazon.de: On the Run

first SRP 19,99 EUR:

The item on amazon.de: The Thing

first SRP 20,99 EUR:

The item on amazon.de: Moon

[...]

Somehow I'm not convinced that amazon.de is a valid source for SRPs.

This has been gone over in this thread bbbbb. And I have even stated how I view and determine srp, never a single source...EVER. ESPECIALLY FROM A COMPANY THAT IS KNOWN TO CHANGE ITS SRP EITH TIME

Official press release is always helpful, if you can find it, but multiple sources helps too, assuming the multiple sources don't update the SRP everytime there is an official price drop.

It seems that, unlike amazon.com, amazon.de does not give the 'list price' of the item but, instead, just gives the purchase price.  That being the case, they should never be used for SRP.
