Just curious

As a newcomer I have noticed that at least in my case there are not that many heavy contributors to teh online database.  It seems like there is a core set of people that do 90% of the work.

Now my exposure is limited since for the most part I only purchase blu-ray now and I import very few releases.  So I am justcurious how many heavy contriutors are out there.

One area I'd like to see from the database ( that only Ken can see)  is the amount of ownership to a particular profiled title..

[case in point-]  I contribute minor change to a major title(s)  such as the six titles of the Star Wars Franchise  and volume 1,2,  4,5,6 all have votes in the 29 to 35 range .. yet my volume 3  only has two .. why? .. because of the locality of the title ..

I'd like to see ( one day) where the accepted yes votes can branch over to other locality's ..
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

I know he has immediate access to that

What was inteneded is finding what other people see and if they feel they do a lot of contributions.

This could be helpful for people like myself that are new to the community as a source of people they could PM for assistance.

no way to say for sure Terry... but it could be that your vol. 3  is one that has a less used UPC that just isn't out there as much.

As was said... only Ken can say how many heavy contributors is out there... but I will say I see a good amount of different contributors on the titles I own.

When scanning through the pending updates it's usually the same names that show up.

Luckily we in Germany seem to have a living contributing community. Means: The main-contributors are not the same as they were three years ago.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I'd say it strongly depends on the Locality of the release in question who's contributing and how large the group of contributors is.

I used to contribute regularly, but then a few users...The Movieman is the main one...started getting the jump on me.  Just when I was ready to contirubte a new release, he would beat me to it.  Mind you, I am not complaining as his work is quite good and it saves me time, I just like to give him his due when ever I get a chance as he makes my life a ton easier.

I see a lot of different contributors. But, I do see a few regulars who contribute on a consistent basis.

If I every have a problem I do have a few friends I may send a pm to.

You could always send a pm to someone and ask if they would assist you.

But, the forums are generally a great place to get advice from.

With getting titles early (on occasion, upwards of a 3 weeks), I can get the info in there. Huskersports (IIRC) also has been a help submitting cast and crew data early as well.

I always try to give TheMoveMan a hard time when he does not have my pre-orders already done before I get them to save me the work.

Used to contribute a lot but now I mostly do minor tweaks and fixes and the occasional cover scan. And while I don't buy any new releases at the moment there are still hundreds of old titles in my collection that needs to be fixed. Guess I'll have time for those when I retire in 20+ years... Actually, I think I'll wait for a cast and crew data system for movies instead of profiles since the whole process seems pointless with the current system. Why should I bother fixing something that most owners of the same film will never see because they happen to own another edition or re-release or locality? The redundant work we have to do is staggering.

I was actually thinking that the other day.  That it had been a while since I had seen contributions and votes from you.

I hope all is getting better.

I don't contribute much, but that is mainly because my taste in movies is rather mainstream and almost all the DVDs I buy are already in the Database.
