I'm amazed nobody submitted a North America profile for Scream 4 DVD or Blu which came out October 4th. There are only profies from France, Sweden and Italy.

I'd submit a profile, but:

- I don't have a Blu-ray drive on my computer, so no disc-ID
- My Blu is inside a Scream collection box set, so no UPC or Scream 4-specific cover artwork

(no... that's not me!)

That particular one may not be in the database. But the title itself isn't missing from the database. Look under the title on the cases. SCRE4M. Since per rules we need to use the front cover title. That is what is on the front cover (as well as the film credits).

Really? This way to contribute titles seems really stupid to me. Who, without cover, would search for Die H4rd, or Lethal We4pon? So why search for Scre4m or T4xi ???

Yeah, I'm not a fan of it either.

Agree 100%.

Maybe the Add by Title feature should also include a search of Sort Titles.

Sort title is a local field

Sort Title is local and contains (aside from a few exceptions) the same data in the main database as the Title.

But you are on the right track, the Original Title should also be searched, as I explained here.

I couldn't agree more, but in this particular case it wouldn't help since Original Title is Scre4m, at least in opening credits. Rules doesn't say where we should the the Original Title from though.

yes the rules tells us to get the original titles from the credits...

Quote:
The Original Title field serves two general purposes, but in both cases allows for the tracking of the original feature title. For profiles which have an alternate title displayed on the cover, use the title from the film's credits. For titles released outside their country of origin, use the original release title.
In cases where the title is the original title, leave the Original Title field blank.

This is true, I was honestly a little bummed when I watched the movie and saw the exact same logo from the front cover on the film. I knew it would be a naming nightmare, as I hate these cute "use numbers for letters" in logos and titles.

If rules were based on a minimum of common sense, we would not have any nightmare. After all, when you (generic) speak of this movie with friends, what do you say ? "Scream 4" or "Scre Four M" ?

This is exactly why the Rule on "Original Title" needs to be changed.  First, we should be taking it from the credit block on the back of the DVD case.  In this case, "Scream4".  If no credit block, then the take it from the film's credits.  Then the foreign language Rule kicks in, where applicable.

Then a "title search" needs to look at both "Title" and "Original Title".

This is how the rule should be Now who takes it to the contribution rules forum?
