Hello

I have a Blu-ray "Technotise" that is produced in 2009 in SERBIEN. I have no country Serbien for choice and I cannot enter it as a new country. What shall I do?

Thanks,

Fritz

The only thing that you can do is leave the CoO field blank. Hopefully one day more countries will be added.

For your local database, there is a solution if there are countries in the list that you do not use. You can then "translate" an unused country to "Serbia" (Tools>options>system>language>edit). Of course you should never contribute profiles concerned by this modification. I use such translations to modify unused fields (theater spectators per movie in place of rating details, for example)

Make a feature request, so it will be (hopefully) added to next version of DVDP.

Thanks a lot for the anwers. For the first I did contribute it with no country, but I will do a request, they should be there otherwise the database gets incomplete.

What Ken apparently needs to add a country is details of that country's rating system, or some verification that the country has no rating system.  I believe this is because the "country of origin" field and the "locality" fields are connected.

Serbia is not the only country of origin missing in our extremely abbreviated list of options.  I own films from the following countries that I cannot properly list:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Bhutan, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Botswana, Cuba, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, and Uruguay

Plus in my wishlist (as well as some of the above):

Angola, Burkina Faso, Croatia, Jamaica, Tajikistan, Tunisia, and Yugoslavia

Ultimately the best solution would be to eliminate the link between "country of origin" field and "locality" in Profiler, and then give us all options for country of origin.  Just because a country is not a major player in the global cinema scene is no reason to not be able to list it properly.

And this doesn't even begin to touch the problem of international co-productions...

Hi Danae

Great answer. I did open a ticket and asked ans they wrote me exactly this, if I could provide them the rating thing of the country I could post it into the future request. But I now asked back what that is, I do not know about what kind of rating system they need to open it. Hope they will explain me, but I find, in the country dropbox there should be all countries on earth as in every from time to time perhaps also only local filmes are made.

Well, what they need is details of the rating system used for movies in Serbia.

I'm not sure if you're asking what the rating system is in Serbia (which I don't know) or if you're asking what they mean by rating system.  So I'll answer the second, and then we can try to move from there.

If I were asked the same question about the rating system in the USA, I would answer by explaining we have the following ratings for films: G (all ages admitted), PG (all ages admitted, parental guidance suggested), PG-13 (all ages admitted, parental guidance suggested for people under the age of 13), R (people under 17 admitted only if accompanied by an adult) and NC-17 (no one under 17 admitted).  Many countries have similar systems.  Some countries do not have a rating system.

So, what we need to find out is what Serbia's system is.

Ultimately, I too would like to see any country available.  The only way to do this currently is to find the rating system for every country - or for Ken to unlink the locality from the CoO fields.

Or, alternately, proof that Serbia has no rating system.

Off topic - looked that film up and it looks really good.  Is the blu-ray Region A playable?

I've never understood why those two field are linked

@ SwissFilm:
This Wikipedia page presents a nice overview of different rating systems. Unfortunately, Serbia isn't listed. But this page will give you a good idea of the information Invelos is looking for.

For the record: I fully agree with Danae Cassandra: the link between Locality and CoO should be severed and we should have all countries available as CoO.
