Can anyone explain the logic behind this 'rule' (apart from 'rules is rules'). Not correct use of English and not (ever) what is says on the tin (as it were).

I can't. I honestly don't know why rating details should be written with title capitalisation rules. It's not normal to English or any other language I know...

As far as I can tell, it's about consistency. If we're simply going to copy the format from "what it says on the tin", then there's going to be LOT of variations. The rule attempts to cut down a bit on that, trying to standardize things as much as possible.

OK, so please explain to me why (simply) copying 'what it says on the tin' is more consistent if one adds a capital letter to the beginning of each word? When I went to school, you only had to do this if it was a title, not a statement.

If we're goign to standardize this, which not write it like a sentence? It seems it would be more readable to capitalize the first word and proper nouns.

I never understood it either.  It looks silly like it is.  It's unnatural.

We shouldn't forget the idiotic (sorry Ken) filter which removes last character of rating details, if it's a period after just one sentence. If Rating Details contains more than one sentence, last character (period) will not be deleted. For example:
-----------------------------
"Lähi-itään sijoittuva agenttitoimintaelokuva sisältää kohtauksia joissa yksityiskohtaista ja veristä väkivaltaa sekä kidutusta."

Last period will be deleted.
-----------------------------
"Pitkäkestoinen voimakas kauhutunnelma. Yksityiskohdiltaan peitellyt seksuaalisen väkivallan ja seksin kuvaukset."

Last period will not be deleted.
-----------------------------

Can someone find any consistency on that? OK, things could be worse, filter could always delete period, if it's a last character. Then 99% of Finnish profiles would be incorrect, now it's just "majority".

Why do I care about this seemingly minor detail?

A) If you contribute a lot, you always have check your own contributions also. "Skip all unchanged" doesn't do any good since the filter has changed the Rating Details.

B) You contribute correct data... and after "filtering" it has been changed to incorrect.

C) It just doesn't make any sence/good. Why it cannot be just like almost any other DVDP field? If the last character is period, you type it, if there isn't one, you won't type it. Simple as that.

D) Since Rating Details field is in many cases too short, you cannot say if the details just didn't fit to the field or was it just the period that got filtered.

So Ken, please loose the filter and double the Rating Details character limit. Thank you.

I can't figure out any reason why this should be standardized? In my opinion it should be threated like Overview. You type what you see.

I can't remember the details any more... and who knows where the thread is... but at the time there was long thread(s) on the subject... and if I remember right.. this was the decision Ken made when he seen no decision would make everyone happy... and this option seemed to be the one that had the least people unhappy about the decision.

Going by the threads that discussed the entire thing there was no right answer that satisfied everyone. As I remember it... this was the thing that bothered the people the least.

What would be right to some people felt wrong to others... what felt right to others felt wrong to another group of people. There was no way to make everyone happy... and at that time at least this is what made the least amount of people unhappy.

True, but I think we should convert all caps to mixed case, and it's good to have a rule on how to do that.
