The last two DVDs I got from them were documentaries on architect Frank Lloyd Wright and Roycroft founder Elbert Hubbard. I think this one is a more broad view of the history of Buffalo. The video highlights some of the wonderful things here that most people are not aware of. For example: Buffalo is only one of 2 places in the world that you can find the works of H.H. Richardson, Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright all in the same place. They also showcase some of the most beautiful Art Deco buildings found in the country. One that holds a special meaning to me is Buffalo's City Hall - my great grandfather laid the cornerstone to this masterpiece. The video also touches on the system of parks and circles that were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the founder of American landscape architecture. We have the most extensive Olmsted park system in the county. There is virtually not a piece of land here that was not touched by Frederick Olmsted. The Olmsted designed park system in Buffalo are extensively intact and are one of the many things here listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The development of electrical power, the Civil Rights Movement and Underground Railway, the terminus of the Erie Canal, the Arts and Crafts movement - Buffalo played a pivotal role in these and many other things. The natural, historical and architectural things here make Buffalo quite special. I think the film will showcase what makes it so. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

You've got to love a town that has a National Chicken Wing Festival. I have thought about going up to Buffalo for the festival, I bet it's worth the trip. Dirk |

... Thank you, Kathy, I didn't notice the vid on the site; I'll check it out. (I got both of the previous DVDs--they were both pretty good.) |
