| Posted: | | | | Lately i haven't been gaming as much as my alienation with modern gaming grows. It was always my fear that when an America company finally entrenched it self into the console market, that quality would take a nose dive. I did though after time start to think those fears where unfounded and purchased the original Xbox and then with confidence it's successor the 360. But soon those fears sprung a new as the red light of death saga ensued (i being one of those victims). The unjustified Xbox Live subscription fee's DLC content designed to exploit the achievement system. Exploitation of franchises like Halo and Call of Duty. Recycling the same game over and over again to the same dumbed down cinematic tosh. If i wanted to watch a film i go to the cinema or buy a DVD or a Blu-ray. Not play a game. It left me yearning for the past with the days of the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and to a lesser extent the super Nintendo though it was still awesome. Where quality and innovation was abundant and not everything was geared towards a multi player or achievements (though i find achievements fun sometimes). But i took the plunge again after being convinced to get Fable 3 which i have found to be all be it a very simple easy game. None the less fun and rather refreshing over all the cinematic turds out there these days. The humour also reminds me of the days when i played the Monkey Island games Another thing i do enjoy on 360 is the arcade. Accept they butchered Golden Axe and where the hell is Revenge of Shinobi Personally Revenge of Shinobi has my favourite game intro. Well any way with that little rant over with do any of you guys play any games? |

| Posted: | | | | Right now i'm working my way though Assassin's Creed 2 (need to finish it before Bloodlines arrives!), Vanquish, Fifa 11 and Pro Evolution Soccer 11.
I just finished Mafia 2 and Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands.
I'm also playing Joe Danger (PSN) and Flight Control HD (PSN-Move).
I was playing Split/Second but loaned it to my brother for now, from 9th of November i'll probably be playing Call of Duty: Black Ops and from 18th of November i'll have to find time for AC: Brotherhood and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.
After that i still have a huge pile of games which also require my attention, like Dead Space, Fallout 3, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, Football Manager 11, Dante's Inferno, Transformers: War ofr Cybertron, Splinter Cell Conviction and more...
Yeez, i need to take a month off!

Also a big fan of the unofficial sequal UFO: Extraterrestrials and many Command & Conquer games (Red Alert 2, Renegade, Tiberium Wars etc) I loved the Command and Conquer series till EA took over so never played CAC 3 and RA 3 and CAC 4. The Soviet ending in Red Alert 1 where Kane shoots Stalin nicely tie's the two original games. Something i wish they would have kept. And loved the intro video to Red Alert 2 |

Red Alert 2 was made when Westwood was already under EA. C&C 3: Tiberium Wars is actually a really good game, the online is buggy as hell (it seems to vary from person to person). But the game is one of the best made this decade. And the expansion pack makes it even better (not the online though). Red Alert 3 was utter crap, and they ruined the whole thing on C&C4. So havent even touched that one. RA3 was enough of a disappointment. paulb_99, its like watching a harem anime serie. The overly sexualized characters just dont work. I have nop problem with "fan service", but on that game, overdoing it, would be the right term. Looks nice on a wallpaper, but the game is the product.
