| | Posted: | | | | I've been using PowerDVD 4 for years and have used it to profile many DVDs. Now I got a (crippled--no Dolby) version of PowerDVD 8 with a new DVD drive, so I thought I'd play with it. Looking at the disc for Tom Horn today, version 4 says regions 1 - 4 and version 8 says 1 - 6.  Has anyone seen or heard of this before. |

| | Posted: | | | | I think that feature has failed in later versions. I have a newer HD powerdvd (can't find a number) and every disc I've checked has shown regions 1,2,3,4,5,6. Some I know for a fact are locked 1 only, others I know were 2 or 2/4 but everything comes up all regions now. |

(v.8 is easier to do screen shots, but how am I supposed to "evaluate" and possibly purchase DVD player software that won't play any Dolby sound? I.e. almost every DVD. LOL again) |

In Germany it is forbidden to remove the copy protection of a DVD, BD, CD, ...
AnyDVD removes the copy protection, so the use of this program is forbidden in Germany. Thanks for clearing that. That doesn't mean that the use of this program is forbidden in almost all countries. It's the opposite. In most countries the consumer has the right backing up his DVDs for personal use.
