Is it OK to use group dividers in cases where actors are credited by the same role but with an addition of a number?

Such as:
Bill Smith as Child #1
Sally Pulse as Child #2
Fred Stone as Child #3

And use Dividers that would look something like this:
<Children>
Bill Smith as #1
Sally Pulse as #2
Fred Stone as #3

Or as above but without a role attached:
<Children>
Bill Smith
Sally Pulse
Fred Stone

I always assumed that if actors are credited with an individual credit then that's what goes in.

I personally always use individual credits if there is one in actual credits - as in your example. There are no headers that require Group Divider, nor are the plural roles for one as every credit is in singular form.

In many cases, too, when cast list is in the order of appearance, the numbered roles are not listed in a group anyway, there are other roles listed in between them.

I think I would vote no to such contribution, because I don't see that as intended use for Group Dividers.

I always assumed that if actors are credited with an individual credit then that's what goes in.

I prefer the first, but especially don't like the second example, because that is creating something that isn't there. I recently saw a more extreme case where roles of "Elf King" and "Elf Queen" where translated into a divider of "Elves" and roles of "King" and "Queen", and more of that stuff.

Even sillier, "Old Convict" and "Bald Convict" got a header of "Convicts" (I could tolerate that), but roles of "Old" and "Bald".

They should, and mirror the actual credits as much as possible. I wouldn't hesitate voting No to someone simply inventing Groups that don't appear in the credits.

I did however recently correct a profile of a film where the actual film credits displayed groups like you gave in the 2nd example. So Group Dividers were valid to add there. I can't really recall seeing Groups displayed like that in any other film though...yet.

There were only "numbers" displayed below the headers in those particular film credits. It displayed indented credits like this for instance:

<Mall Shoppers>
#1
#2
#3

<Kids with Football>
#1
#2

<Hookers>
#1
#2

<Bums>
#1
#2
#3

I'd flat out say no, it's not okay.

If there's no group divider, one should not be invented and added into the cast. If the credits read:

Bill Smith as Child #1
Sally Pulse as Child #2
Fred Stone as Child #3

It should be entered exactly as that.

It was my understanding the group dividers were put in place to help more accurately reflect the film's credits. Adding a group divider of >>Children<< is not accurate as the word children (or a group divider) never actually appears in the film.

If I knew it was happening, I'd vote no in a heartbeat.

I agree with this.

Do not add anything that is not there.  Do not remove anything that is.  They are individually credited and should be entered as such.

Yes, if they have all the same credits, we use the group Divider.
