Whilst adding a BY elsewhere, the Invelos software is forcing me to put D'Abo.

There seems to be no option to stop this?

Ok Sam this is a known issue. the software does not pick up on the difference between Upper and lower case. Evidently somewhere along the way you have a credit for Olivia D'Abo., which she has been credited as before. The way I handle it is quite simple Olivia D'Abo Credited As Olivia d'Abo, this way you will maintain what is probably a previous correct entry while capturing the Correct entry for this title.

Can't do that any more Skip... Ken put in a filter to ignore capitalization differences only for Credited As... and strips them during the contribution.

He also specifically said in another thread to not use Credited As to denote capitalization.

That's a MESS. Another ill-advised mod. Now he needs to have the program recognize the Cap differences, But good to know for more updates i will refuse.

No, it's a good mod.  That way people can have the name capitalized how they want them.  I do not want to go back to the days of endless ping-ponging of Levar/LeVar Burton.

Having D'Abo credited as d'Abo just mucks up the system because d'Abo may be how it already is in the database.

What you want can be done as I described. But now it mucks up the system by replacing ACTUAL credits with some sort of fiction.

This is known bug in the program.  For some odd reason, the program forces the capitalization of the first word in each field.

de la Cruz is converted to De la Cruz, de Palma is converted to De Palma and, as you have noted, d'Abo is converted to D'Abo.  There is nothing you can to about it.

Now for what it's worth, I am still seeing Contributed data come down the pipe D'Abo (d'Abo) and I can still do it locally, I have not tried to contribute such data, but I am seeing it on the download side.

Yeah.... there is several already in the system from before the change. And you can do it locally. But it is not seen if you try to contribute it. And any that is already there... as soon as someone tries to change the cast or crew list with it... it is then stripped by the filter.

I even double checked it by trying to add it to a profile just now... and it removes the credited as for it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way, and I'm still seeing ping-ponging between Levar/LeVar Burton - the "mod" didn't stop that at all. One user can still have "Levar" while the next one has "LeVar", both can still be contributed as such (not affected by any filter whatsoever), and it can even ping-pong within the same profile: contrary to popular belief, the system DOES still detect a difference between "LeVar" and "Levar". Just try it: pick a profile with an entry for "LeVar" in it, change it to "Levar", and try to contribute it. The system WILL detect the difference as it always has, and lets you contribute the change.

No, this "mod" has only led to removal of "as credited" capitalization data - when you download an update now, you no longer know whether the capitalization of the names in the profile matches the actual on-screen credits, or if they're just formatted the way the contributor happens to have these people listed in his database. So that's what the mod does, but it hasn't stopped the ping-ponging between differently capitalized variants - that's still going on as strong as ever - even more so, as far as I've seen.
