I notice that the Sex And The City bonus disc is in the system but it is not associated with its parent profile.  There are countleess other things that I would like to add the child profiles for.  The problem is I have never added a profile.

If you can create a regular profile, you already know how to create a child profile.  They are exactly the same, except for the few things mentioned in the Box Set section of the rules.

They really should be in a more prominent place IMO.

It depends if you talk about the act of contributing such profiles or just actually adding them to the profile in the program.

If the former, see answers above.

If the latter:

Add the disc(s) in question into your DVD drive.
Go to Add DVD, switch to Add by Disc.
If it finds an existing profile you can take that
If it doesn't find one or tries to add the entire season again, just uncheck "Download from Invelos".
Make sure it's in the right region/locality.
Now you edit the profile and whatnot.
Now you edit the designated parent profile and switch to the tab "Box Set Contents"
There you add the disc by searching for its name.

Now it's done locally. If you want to contribute your results, contribute both child according to the rules and parent profile and check the "Box Set" checkbox in the contribution screen for the parent profile.

back in the old days of 2000- 2003.. ( IVS days) .,, in order to contribute there was a 'test' you had to accomplish first.. any of the old timers here remember that test .. ??

Now that you are entering the minefield known as "Contributions", here's a few pointers.

1. Don't get offended if someone votes NO.
2. If someone voted NO, take their comment seriously.  If that means editing and resubmitting, so be it.
3. If you don't agree with their NO, don't red flag them (unless they're frackin' rude).  Talk to them about it via PM.
4. Read any comments in the YES votes.  Sometimes they are small problems mentioned here which can be corrected via resubmitting or a subsequent update.
5. Don't get offended if someone votes NO.
6. Check the vote response on your contributions frequently for a few days after submitting.  If there's any serious issues, you'll know about them fast and can correct them.
7. If you scan covers, dust your scanner first.  If you have a photo editor, clean up your scans to remove dust, etc.
