Pretty simple question.

I'm 26 and started keeping film diaries a while ago. I've averaged just over 1000 movies a year apart from last year where I managed just 750. A decent % (20-40) can be down to rewatches (there are some films I watch several times a year). This year so far I've seen 171. I'm going to put a conservative guess of 6000 though I would imagine it's closer to 7000. (and yes, I have an active social life... mainly my movie watching is down to the fact that I don't sleep more than 4 hours a night and can watch during my work day).

Two words: A lot!

Didn't keep any record, I'm just sure that I forgot more movies than others (probably not participants of this forum) have ever seen.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I've been keeping track since 1983.  I'm well on my way to 5200 unique titles.

I have absolutely no idea. I never tracked my movie watching in the past. I did last year and I am this year. I hit 100 movies already this year. Last year I watched 318 movies. Though I do tend to watch more TV Series then movies... I think I will be able to easily top last year's 318.

My wife and I have watched about 121 movies together and there are about 43 that I have watched that she had no care to see. And that was just this year alone. I couldn't tell you how many I have watched in my whole movie watching "career". I can say, however, that it was a ton!!!!

I remember seeing "Blackboard Jungle" first run at the Fox Theater in Redwood City. I've seen at least three movies a week in theaters ever since (until about four years ago), and literally hundreds every year on television. Then add in the ten to fifteen movies I saw every week I was in college (I have a doctorate and I way overachieved on units on every degree)... so say 160 movies a year from 1954 to 2005 = 8160 in theaters; say 200/year on TV, same timespan = 10,200; and say 375/year for college years (1967-1990... yeah, I overachieved and spent a lot of time in academia) = 8250. I suspect the DVDs/VHS tapes/filmfest/Jay Knowles & other filmfanatic buddies viewings I've done over the years offsets the repeated viewings I've had of a number of films, so 8160 + 10,200 + 8250 = 26,610... just an estimate. I still see (over the past five years) four to ten films each week on cable, and I haven't included those in the total for the past five years... say seven films per week for five years = 1820 more.

Say 28,500 different films, of all lengths, in many languages (yes, I've seen a number of Turkish knock offs, including Star Wars and the Wizard of Oz). I suspect that I've watched more films starring El Santo than everyone else here.... just a guess. That's fewer than 500 films each year, every year of my life. (But I don't recall any before Blackboard Jungle... but I know it was not my first film I saw -- it's the first film I still remember having gone to see. I remember the teenagers dancing in the aisles.)
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

I really should start keeping track because I honestly have no idea. I know it's a slew because I've been a huge movie fan all of my life. I'm a child of the drive-in era, and I was fortunate enough to have parents that went to the drive-in about every weekend, and took us along to see whatever they were seeing.

No doubt it's somewhere in the thousands, for sure.

I would guess it would be well over 4,000 different films that I've seen over the years. I've rated around 3,000 films on Imdb...and of course many I've either forgotten the titles of, or they aren't even listed on Imdb.
