Warner is offering a trade-up from HD DVD to Blu-ray for many of their titles (128 listed as of this morning).

Looks like you mail in the cover & $4.95 and get the Blu-ray in return.  Up to 25 titles per household with a single flat shipping fee per order.

Web site: http://www.red2blu.com/

News: http://www.widescreenreview.com/news_detail.php?id=18450

Looks like it is a US-only offer though.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Even though I now have a lot more BD's than HD-DVD's, I would never give mine up. I don't like this offer at all.
But that's just me..
I wonder.. Is anyone actually getting rid of their HD-DVD's?

I've got 15-16 HD-DVDs that qualify.  I can keep the discs and just turn in the covers...i can live with that.

I wouldn't have double dipped for the BD on many of these at anything like normal prices but at this price i will.

I'm not looking to get rid of HDs (just bought some a couple weeks ago) but it is a format without a future so i'm happy to take advantage of their offer.

This is an incredible offer and I'll certainly take advantage of it.  I love my HD DVDs, but I don't have a backup player and worry about my player dying eventually leaving me with a bunch of useless discs.  When I saw the thread title, my first thought was that I'd pay about $5 per title to upgrade but there's no way they'd make that offer.  What a pleasant surprise!

Looking through my collection, I have 18 qualifying titles for a total of $114.10 (some profiles like the Harry Potter set cost more), plus a flat shipping fee of $6.95 for the whole order.  Not bad!

The only problem I noticed is they offer this for the Ultimate Matrix collection, but not the Complete Matrix collection.

But I'm holding off till I know this is legit.

I did 36 titles (including Matrix boxset, Ocean's Boxset, HP set, That's Entertainment Boxset) for $167.  Not bad at all.  Now what to do with all the coverless HD DVDs?

I would, but it does not appear valid for Canadians. Once again we are screwed by the man.

Thank you for that update! I'd been meaning to look into it myself, but have been busy at work.  Still, you have to admit it would be a brilliant scam while it lasted!

I agree ,, and to retialliate we could sell our jacket liner for a couple of bucks ( to our land of opportunity Americans .,, )  and just then print off a duplicate for prosperity ....

Interesting deal....I might take them up on it for the non-combo discs, but the combos I'm keeping since I have little faith in the Blu-ray format surviving either.  I do have a backup HD DVD player, though.

Status of my order (Spoiler: got all my ordered discs).

Apr 27: Ordered Blu-ray replacements for 15 HD-DVDs. @ $4.95 each plus tax/shipping = $85.84
Apr 27: Received email with PDF shipping label attached. Label provided free, trackable, US Post Office shipping.
May 1: Dropped off 15 HD-DVD covers at Post Office
May 6: Delivery tracking indicates receipt in Michigan (i should have received receipt acknowledgment email but didn't)
May 13: Credit Card charged
May 18: Get home from walk to find a UPS package with 15 shrink-wrapped, security-stripped Blu-rays.

Average cost = $5.72

Fingers crossed Universal and Paramount will do something similar.

I got mine today too!

I mailed my covers on 4/23. I didn't get any receipt or shipping emails either. I ordered 13 plus the Ocean's box set (3).

Warner has said you can trade in the cheap Matrix set for the Ultimate.
