| Posted: | | | | This is my first attempt to add a tv series: The Complete Monty Pythons Flying Circus: Collectors Edition (not the 16 Ton Megaset) 1) There a 23 disks, not individually packaged. The disc IDs read -[Python 1], etc. No serial number. 2) Contents of the first group of discs is the same as the Megaset. When I try to submit, DVD Profiler always ties to update the equivalent Megaset disc. NO upc code or disc Id (except as above) on the child profile I'm trying to upload. How do i submit as a new disc? 3) Should I do the set with every disc listed in the overview? Example: set Disc 1: a b c, etc. OR should each disk be entered as a child disc to the set? Any help appreciated. |

| Posted: | | | | If they are coming up as the same disc ID as the megaset (overwriting that set) then at least as far as I know there is no way to submit child profiles for this set. There is only 2 ways to submit profiles... upc/ean and disc ids.
As for how they are listed if you are able to submit... going per what the TV Series rules says you would create the profiles per disc... so each disk should be entered as a child disc to the set | | | Pete |

You can do it either way. I use the child system because i think one huge list of Episodes with cast and Crew data is completeky irrational and makes no sense. But there are those who like it the other way, though i still don't comprehend why.

| Posted: | | | | I see what he means now... with the overview if you do not make child profiles you would only use the overview for the whole set... plus you can have the option of a simple episode list. (just a plain numbered list of episodes) No episode plots would be allowed per the rules. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | OK guys. I'm in agreement. That's why I'm trying for each disc. I just can't get them to submit as individual entity.
With no disc serial number showing when I scan the DVD drive with Profiler, just the -[Python 1], how do I submit? |

| Posted: | | | | I never seen that situation before... no disc id number showing up?... In that case I don't think there is a way to do the child profiles at this time. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | It's not the first time it has come up. Came up with a Double Feature disc I tried to submit a few months back: American Beauty/Virgin Suicides. Neither disc had a serial number. Resolved by someone (Ken?) and eventually accepted.
Very similar situation.
[b]Can you enter the disc ID engraved on the back of the disc manually? And, would that work? [/b] |

| Posted: | | | | Is it a problem with your PC reading disc ids?
I would expect 16 discs to be identical to the 16-ton set, and the child profiles could be shared between both parents. Also includes the already released "personal best" DVDs and probably identical again, but they may only have UPC-profiles in the database and not DiscID-profiles. |

Skip In my case I don't use the child profile for the tv series because it mess the statistics. With one profile with all the cast/crew each of them get one profile entry for his/her number of film or tv works. But with the child profile they get one entry for each discs that will give by exemple something over 60 entry for a long run serie. For me that make the stats useless. Don't know for the other reasons but it's mine. |

| Posted: | | | | Multiple tries in multiple DVD drives. Never have had any problems reading a DVD ID before.
As for child profiles being shared: Is that even possible????
Also, the "Collectors Edition" has no individual cases, just discs. Therefore, no cover art, etc. | | | Last edited: by Fingerlakes Dave |

Thanks for insulting me right off the get go. Have you even read any other on my posts? This IS NOT the first time I have seen this. Baffled Ken and Skip both the last time. I still don't know how it was resolved.
Quote: As for child profiles being shared: Is that even possible???? don't understand your question here?
Was a reply to jmbox.
Quote: Also, the "Collectors Edition" has no individual cases, just discs. Therefore, no cover art, etc. the art work from the box can go in to the children. That is not my question. Again a reply to a different poster. I've been a registered user since around version 1.0. I know all the concepts. I just can't get the software to do what it is supposed to. THAT is my question: how to add child discs as separate entries, and since a new release, not overwrite old profiles. DVD Profiler currently is behaving badly. (Or I'm missing something) The child disc profiles will not even show when I try to link to the main profile, even after a database rebuild. |

| Posted: | | | | OK folks I'm about ready to give up. I tried manually adding the DVD. "Manual added DVDs my not be uploaded...." !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!!?!? So I put the disc in a drive, scanned the disc, get the disc ID (as required): UPC OR Disc ID. NOW I get told I HAVE to have a UPC?!?!?!?!?!?!??! No wonder almost no one uploads child discs, it's virtually impossible! Or just too damn frustrating to bother with! ANY insight appreciated. "three tries and out".. and I'm on my fourth or fifth!! | | | Last edited: by Fingerlakes Dave |

| Posted: | | | | So your disc(s) are currently Manual discs, with an ID of something like "Mxx"?
If i understand your messages from yesterday you couldn't get a Disc ID [the alphanumeric 16(?) digit number] read from a disc but now you can read the ID?
If the latter is true did you go to the sub-menu (forget which main menu it is a sub-item of) item "Change UPC"? At the bottom of the dialog is a check box to use the inserted Disc's ID instead of the UPC.
Click OK and this should convert the Manual profile to a Disc ID based one, which is submittable.
I'm not in front of my main machine and am describing this from memory but i think the main points are correct. Hopefully i understand the problem. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |
