This is getting really complicated. For example:

Battle For Haditha
-Cover layout is identical to those used by Future Film (FI)
-Pan Vision (FI) has it on their website
-Cover says Atlantic Film (SE)

The same goes for a lot of others. E.g. Noble Entertainment, is it even a distributor?
In their website they say:  "Through partnerships with Pan Vision (Denmark), Future Film (Finland and Norway) and Myndform (Iceland), our products are sold and distributed all over Scandinavia."

If it's identical to this cover, including EAN, I would use Atlantic Film. Otherwise I would suggest using whatever distributor is most appropriate to your locality.

PS. Even Pan Vision lists it as "Atlantic".

It is, except the EAN (FI one ends in 080005) Atlantic Film has many releases that are identical to those of Future Film cover wise. Its only on few new ones that ive seen Atlantic Film's logo added to the cover.

So Atlantic Film = PAN Vision? I checked with 2 other Atlantic Film movies and VET says the distributor is also in those PAN Vision.

Do you think its always ok to use VET as the source for distributor? That would mean that e.g. Asian Vision (which is Nobles, i think) -> would be Universal Pictures Finland.

It seems that the Atlantic Film is a nordic wholesale dealer and their DVDs are distributed in Finland by Pan Vision.

Take a look at:

I can't say that is always right, but at least it tells you who has payed for finnish rating.

I only have one Asian Vision film Boksuneun naui geot [5050582167818] and my impression is that Asian Vision is Universal company's series name. Even the logo says Asian Vision Universal. Also copyright text on back cover says Universal Pictures Finland, so the distributor should be Universal Pictures without country suffix.

Ken hasn't released the official rules yet, so I took that from Contribution rules committee thread "Locality suffix to company names" where everyone agrees that we shouldn't use locality suffixes for distributors.

We'll see how it goes for final rules, but I really hope that we don't end up using 'em.

btw.
"In their website they say:  "Through partnerships with Pan Vision (Denmark), Future Film (Finland and Norway) and Myndform (Iceland), our products are sold and distributed all over Scandinavia."

so it's not "Pan Vision", "Future Film" or "Myndform". Media Distributor is in all of this cases "Scandinavia"    (sorry *g*)

I do NOT second that, because the country suffix is part of the company name.
e.g. in Germany it's "Universal Pictures Germany GmbH" so "Universal Pictures Germany" is the correct entry for the Profiler-DB

Sorry but no thanks. I don't think these lists outside Invelos site are a good idea.

I agree. There's no way that external sites can be enforced here. The idea behind them is good but unless they're hosted by Invelos, then a lot of people will simply ignore them.

I disagree, but we'll see how it goes when the rules update goes public. Now we can only guess and hope that common sence will win and we loose the country indicator (even when it is a part of company name).

Sadly i missed it, i would have opposed it. Finland is part of the company name. Grouping all companys from a business group doesnt sound that bad. But if you remove Finland from the name, it becomes Universal Pictures, which is a studio not a distributing company. Universal Home Entertainment or Universal Studios Home Entertainment would be the distributor.

The new rules will probably get online when 3.5 is released, so ill wait for that.
