| Posted: | | | | Well, I don't have a top 10 list, so I'll just give all ten of my votes to Firefly. Man, I loved that show. Oh, and how about Dr. Katz? Pretty good stuff there too. | | | "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world because they'd never expect it." - Jack Handey |

| Posted: | | | | My number one, and will be for the foreseeable future.. Firefly(Stupid, inbred, espresso-sucking, brain-damaged execs at FOX) (Good thing there a SE DVD of Serenity coming in August) Police Squad(fortunately we have the Naked Gun movies, and the show on DVD) And FWIW mlr, Andromeda wasn't canceled. It was only going to run 5 seasons (IIRC). Also, personal opinion, Voyager and Enterprise sucked big time. A show that could have stayed longer? Buffy the Vampire Slayer. |

Firefly is definitely my number one as well. And I agree that Buffy could have continued in some way; whatever happened to Ripper? But Police Squad got cancelled because no-one was watching it properly. It works better as a film. So we can blame low attention spans of the average viewer for that! | | | Jon "When Mister Safety Catch Is Not On, Mister Crossbow Is Not Your Friend."

- American Gothic I always did have a thing for horror/supernatural thriller type series... This was a blind buy DVD.. and it ended with me wanting more. - Commander in Chief This one was definitely a slow starter... but I really got into it within several episodes... and think Geena Davis was great in this show. - Firefly This is another one I saw for the first time on DVD. - The Flash anything to do with Superheroes is another thing I really enjoy. Would liked to have seen this go at least one more year. - Joan of Arcadia This one needed a 3rd season... especially how season 2 left off! - Miracles Another series that left me wanting more when done. - Tru Calling This one I am still pissed at FOX about! They really did this series wrong... and is my favorite short-lived series out there! | | | Pete |

Click ? for IMDB Links Being a little Trekkie, are you? Enterprise was boring from the beginning. After half a season I chose to stop watching it. Andromeda aka "Hercules in Space": the moment Wolfe left the show went from "slightly amusing" to "wtf is Sorbo doing?" Farscape & Firefly: I concur but they got a least the chance to finalize their story (PKW & Serenity) Earth Final Conflict: Stopped watching the moment Boone died TNG: Yeah, could have lasted longer, maybe then the movies hadn't been so unTNGish DS9: Loved it .... until the Ezri-Season. Never really liked the emmisary-storyline but the last season was worse and the finale was awful. VOY: I stand to my point that killing uncounted Borgs (millions? billions?) was, is and will ever be called genocide. And I don't forgive authors who write such a story to justify bringing one ship home. Aparte from that the show never really used its potential. 2 enemy crews on a long way home? At the beginning of nearly every episode the ship looked like it came fresh from the Utopia Planitia spacedocks. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Fox really should just pass on good pilots and let them go to networks that might give them a chance. All they're interested in is running the Simpsons and 24 into the ground. |

| Posted: | | | | Not a top 10 but my top TV shows that were cancelled too early:
Freaks & Geeks Arrested Development Undeclared The Job (Though Rescue Me is a good substitute) The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. Sports Night
All I have to say is thank God for DVD. When some of these went off the air I never thought I'd see them again. |

Enterprise started slow and boring, I'll give you that. But the Xindi arc in season 3, and the awesome 21 episodes of season 4 as helmed by André Bormanis, the show really took off. It could have gone on longer, assuming B&B didn't get an ego trip and decided to boot Bormanis. Quote:

Haven't seen Farscape (yet), but Firefly ... And I agree with Pete, Tru Calling was cancelled WAYYYYY before it's time. It had just found its rythm with the Jack/Tru dynamic. Roswell should have gone on longer. They had good material, although they seemed unable to decide wether they were a teen-drama, or a sci-fi show and that hurt them. They should have either blended the two themes better, or chosen one. And I'll add a new one to the thread that hasn't been mentionned yet (at the time of typing this): - Futurama |

1. Firefly - One of the most intelligent, full fleshed series I've ever seen. Quirky, REAL characters. True Joss Whedon masterpiece.
2. Space: Above and Beyond - one of the first shows to treat military issues properly, and with respect. Crackerjack premise as well, before its time.
3. Roswell - I loved this show! Another example of the braindead network execs killing the golden goose.
4. Surface - Great characters, marvelous premise. It was just getting its sea legs when they pulled the plug.
The obvious thing here is that most of the shows that get cancelled are not stupid, insipid sitcoms and reality shows. Anything that makes you think even a little bit had better have some kind of gee whiz factor working for it, or it won't last. Seems like all the networks cater to the knuckle dragging unibrow audience. | | | John

- Tru Calling This one I am still pissed at FOX about! They really did this series wrong... and is my favorite short-lived series out there! Same for me... Also The Pretender when even with the 2 TV Show, we don't know the truth and all informations about the Centre... For others, I don't have finished to watch them on DVD like Dark Angel, Roswell... For the moment, I think the end I found the worst is Alias. I loved this series until the last season and especially the end and the truth about Rambaldi... and maybe Angel end too but not as much as Alias ending... | | | Regards Cyrille | | | Last edited: by Cyrille |
