First of all, this is a user contributed database, so the title you are looking for may not have been contributed yet.

Secondly, if it has been contributed, see this thread.

Good luck with your mission! If you come up with something I hope you share it with the community.

A possible solution may be to access your online collection using a browser on your phone. This could let you use the browser's Find function to check if you own a specific title. Clunky perhaps, but it should be doable. You could try it and see if it seems practical.

It seems unlikely that there will be any new releases or any feedback, based on many years of silence (with the notable exception of the post about the server update).

Sad to say, if a phone app is an absolute must for you, then you probably should look for another product. I have discussed a couple of them in this thread.

While I understand the first two, please explain your "remote connection" comment. I know how to do that with my iPad but how do I do that with another PC?

If I remember correctly you use File / Open Database and click Select Shared and go from there.

Please, Invelos, answer to us to say yes or no to create this update.

If not, thanks to give us a compatible software not to lost all our  databases

I'm afraid that it is unlikely that we'll ever see any updates to any of Invelos' products. So if a phone app is important to you, then you'll have to look for something else.

There are no apps that can access Invelos' online database. There are, however, PC programs that can import your collection, and that also have phone apps. Some of them have been discussed in the thread Alternatives to DVD Profiler?

If you make sure that "Automatically lock all changed items" is checked at the bottom of the Edit window, your data should be safe.

Yes, it's sad to see that the programs get no updates and that the website isn't functioning as well as one would want. But still the desktop program and the iOS app on iPad work fine for keeping track of my discs. I don't buy very many new titles, and I may have to enter them myself rather than download them, but I can live with that. As long as these programs work, I'm sticking with DVD Profiler, because I haven't found anything that is nearly as good.

My understanding is that extras are non-speaking background performers, while additional  cast are actors with spoken dialog in minor roles. If that is correct, then they are not comparable. Personally I wouldn't include them, but the rules are not clear on that point, I think.

Well I was able to write some code to do it inside HTTPJolie. That makes it possible to add to any of GSyren's tools

Well, none of my current tools can actually run custom HTTPJolie commands directly. However, in order to be able to refresh the online profile list unattended, I wrote a very small program that just runs that refresh command. This program can be launched from DvdpScheduler (or possible some other scheduler), but the catch is that this has to be done while the PC is logged in.

I use this program myself to download the full list each night, but I'm not sure if anyone else is interested in it.
If anyone is interested, just give me a shout.

File/Backup Database will create a backup file that contains everything, including cover scans.
Store that file on a Cloud drive, an external hard drive, a USB stick or something similar. You can store it on a secondary internal drive on your PC, but that means that if you have a crash and need to restore on a different PC, you'll need to remove that disk and connect it to your new PC. So some kind of external media is best.

And then when needed you can use File/Restore database to restore everything from that backup file. And as a plus, you're not depending on Invelos' site being accessible when you need to restore.

You should, of course, keep your backup reasonably up-to-date.

Local images are not uploaded to your online collection. The online collection is not suitable as a primary backup if you have custom images. What you should do is to use the backup function in DVD Profiler, and keep that backup on a different media than your Profiler database, i.e. not on the same disc in case of a disc crash. Cloud storage like OneDrive or Google Drive is perfect for this.

The online collection only displays the images that are part of Invelos' online database. Storing all the images from all users would require enormous disk space, and most of those images would be the same as Invelos' images anyway.

There are a lot of newer titles not showing up now FALL GUY, NARC, MUTE WITNESS, GODZILLA X KING KONG, LA FEMME NIKITA are just a few. I have tried adding them as both "name" and "UPC" and none of these come up.

In the case of Godzilla x King Kong it is probably because the title is actually Godzilla x Kong. As for the other titles, the database is user built, so probably nobody has contributed a profile. If you own any of these titles, why not do a good deed any contribute them yourself?

If you are interested in automating this, have a look at the second FAQ...

The drawback is that you have to restart Profiler.

Yeah, but you need to combine the command with Ctrl-down, and I don't see how you can do that through HTTPJolie. But maybe I'm missing something?

It might be worth a try for someone who is really miffed at having to wait for that download.

For the record: I have absolutely no problem waiting for a minute while refreshing the online profile list, I'm not craving for an automated process. I merely noted that if a lot of us are downloading those files several times a week, that causes unnecessary traffic to the server. That alone could have been a reason for Ken to fix it. But alas...

Yeah, I got that. I just wanted to point out to anyone interested (if any) that it might be technically possible.
If anyone is actually interested, give me a shout and I can test it.

I am curious as an experiment. Could you provide the Profile ID(UPC.Locality). We  have tools that access the online database internally. It would be interesting if those tools can see pending profiles.

Gunnar if you want to experiment, I think there are a couple of internal commands that I could add to HTTPJolie if the existing ones don't do it.

My experience from testing TurboCLT indicates that the current commands do not see pending profiles.
Might be interesting to see if it can be done.

There are already tools by GSyren that might be able to help. For example, with his tools, you could schedule the refresh overnight or on whatever schedule you choose. Then you would not have to wait when you are ready to work.

Yeah, I guess it might be possible to cobble together some AutoItX commands that would trigger "Online / Refresh Online Profile List" while simulating Ctrl down, and schedule that from DvdpScheduler. It's not something that I have tried, and the drawback with DvdpScheduler is that you have to keep your PC logged in. There is no way for any program to control DVD Profiler if you're not logged in.

It might be worth a try for someone who is really miffed at having to wait for that download. No guarantee that it will work, though.

When experimenting with sending commands through AutoItX it might be wise to have a recent backup of you database, just in case. Actually, it's a good idea to always have a recent backup. Better safe than sorry.

I'm a bit ashamed to have to ask this, but I have never seen a situation like this before.

[Gérard Bonn=6/48 ; Gerard Bonn=3/163]

I was under the impression that number of titles ruled over number of profiles. But the rules really doesn't say either way. I assume that this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything.

In this case, the contributor went with Gerard Bonn=3/163, and that makes sense. That means that there are 48 profiles that need fixing, rather than 163. But the fact that the CLT displays number of titles first seems to imply that Ken thought this was the important number.

Does anyone know if Ken ever said anything about this? Any other thoughts?

Since DVD Profile is basically dead in the water, does anyone know of another catalog program that uses Profiler's database? I currently have over 2400 DVDs cataloged in DVD Profiler and I hate the idea of re-entering all my DVDs.

There are no programs that can access Invelos' online database, if that's what you mean.
There are some programs that can import data from your collection, but none of them do it 100% perfectly.

The question that you need to ask yourself is why you want to go to another program at this time. The online database is still supported by Invelos, although fewer users update it. The desktop program works fine. There are a few minor bugs, but nothing that prevents you from using it.

If there is some feature that DVD Profiler lacks that some other program has, and it's something you really feel that you need, then that may be a valid reason to migrate. If not, then you can stay with DVD Profiler as long as it works, and you can always migrate at a later date.

The two alternatives that looks most promising (to me) is Collectorz that GeneInOrlando mentioned, and MyMovies.
But personally I'm sticking with DVD Profiler as long as I can.
