I have never been a fan of people creating new profiles by copying cast and crew from older profile, but I have accepted that it is allowed. Now I am a bit pissed, though.

I had done a thorough audit of the new High Noon from Eureka. Now someone is submitting a contribution that overwrites cast and crew, copied from an older profile. An older profile that contains several errors.

I have no problem if someone compares my work with an older profile and finds that I have missed something or made some mistakes, and corrects just those. I'm not infallible and I do make mistakes. But to just summarily replace my work with an older error prone profile's cast and crew, with no explanation, that upsets me.

I don't have an issue with copying the cast and crew from a previously approved profile for pending releases.  For existing releases, I'll usually copy an existing profile, if one doesn't already exist, and then review the film credits and make the necessary changes.

However, I agree that the cast and crew shouldn't be taken from an older profile and simply pasted over a newer one.  I can understand, to an extent, if someone did a complete review and are updating multiple profiles, but there are cases where the credits aren't the same even if it's the same film title.  So, it would be my preference to not copy over data wholesale unless people have those titles and have confirmed the changes.

Yes, I'd be pissed if I were you too.

I'd also vote no to the contribution.  Which I did, because the title's on my wish list.

I voted no too. Looks like a lot of the information is incorrect.

I would only copy/paste Cast and Crew if it was superior information, but even then I try to check it myself.

And you just proved that I'm not infallible, GreyHulk. Wrong Lon Chaney. Doh!
Now, profile corrections like that I do like.

I think a good practice when contributing changes of any sort is to read the submission record before hitting Submit, as sometimes that way you learn why a particular profile has such and such info. If someone initially thought that another UPC had more thorough cast/crew, started the contribution process, and then read the notes that said the the cast/crew had been audited, the right thing to do would have been to either withdraw the submission or let the contribution lapse without hitting Submit. Doing either of those, no harm no foul. But if you try to change something that had been audited without addressing the audit, that's plain carelessness.

Looks like the contribution has now been withdrawn.
