As I stated before, I would like to keep the titles that are on the covers.

Why?

We all have our idiosyncracies and OCD-like behaviour, I don't think we'd be here if we didn't, but this is one I don't understand. The Sort Title isn't visible anywhere, other than in the data field where you enter it. What is seen in the profile view, collection listing, reports, etc. is the DVD Title.

So why is it so important to have the Sort Title field and the DVD Title field be identical?

I'm not criticizing, it's just such a foreign concept to me that I find myself still wondering if you're not confusing the Sort Title and DVD Title fields.

KM

Didn't work for the titles in the sort box set to "The Complete First Season - The Complete Seventh Season". It is not sorting them as it should. It is keeping them as they were in the old profiles. It should sort them with the titles set as I have them. That is all I am saying>>>.

They're sorted alphabetically which is how it should be done. It sees "First" not 1st. If you set the sort title to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc... then they'll you'll get them showing in the right order. The title field can be whatever you want, you only need to amend the sort to the numerical value.

The sorting system seems to be sorting the titles by the 1st word in the title. In this case the word "The", and not sorting the entire title alphabetically. If it were sorting the entire title alphabetically, it would see that the word "First" comes right after the word "Fifth". If you look in my DVD list you will see that "The Complete First Season" is in last place of the 7 seasons. Just as it is in the old profile for these sets. They were that way from the start, with The Complete First Season being the only season named that way and all the others named Season Two - Seven. Ether the program is keeping info it will not let you change, or it is limited to sorting alphabetically by the 1st word in the title after the :  IE "Buffy the Vampire Slayer:" Sorting starting at the word The after the :  . I will try removing the Buffy the Vampire Slayer: from the sort box and see if it works.

Edit..... That put the down in the T with the movie Them... But it also put them in the right order, so I put the Buffy the Vampire Slayer: back in and sorted again, it fixed the problem and now they are in order... Odd that it would not put them in the right order before doing this.

I'm not sure why it's not working properly for you, but it's using the entire field. All my "Adventures of..." titles are sorted properly, even though the difference doesn't come until the third word. Likewise for all my "Star" movies (Star Trek, Star Wars...)

Any opinions about the cases that Criterion uses for the new Blu ray release?

These cases are about the same size as the normal hd keep cases, except that they are of clear plastic instead of blue and don't have a blu-ray bar at the top. So setting this to HD Keep Case shows this incorrectly with a blue bar at the top in dvd profiler. It is also smaller than a normal keep case. So how should it be? Setting it to custom gave me a lot of negatives in the voting, because most people find it a HD Keep Case. So should we just live with the incorrect blue bar?

What do you guys want to call the new Criterion Blu-ray cases.  They moved away from digibook pak in slipcases to clear PS3 game type of case.  However in these cases, the plastic liner goes all the way to the top and the enclosed cover art spans the entire height of the case.  I don't think we should mark these as HD Keepcase since there is no Blu-ray bar at the top.  I vote that we call these Keepcase even though they are not as tall as a regular DVD keepcase.

Discussed about 2 pages back.  I vote that we call these Keep Cases rather than HD Keep Cases.

The search function on these forums does not work particularly well. You'll get better results using Google with "site:invelos.com" preceding your search terms.

I was one of the No voters.  I didn't think about the fact that a banner would/could be added when it shouldn't be (that should have central to your argument but wasn't directly addressed).

I think you should have a go at Keep Case with details on the banner and referencing this thread (point to the specific page).  I'd vote for that.  I wouldn't vote against Custom based on what you explained here but but that might be harder to do a second time.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

This sounds like what a lot of companies are now calling a LiteBox now and not THINpack.

Litebox = 14mm case that can hold up to 6 discs

Basically it's a new name for an existing type of keep case. They have been around for a while but I think the name LiteBox is just starting to stick with multiple vendors.  Previously I think most just called them 6 way Keep cases.  A lot of the R1 Anime I collect is coming in these now. A google search for "DVD LiteBox case" shows up a lot of the new releases flagged like this.  Same with search for LiteBox on RightStuf.com.

http://www.pcx.com.au/products/detail.asp?&item=1189

This is probably a stupid question, but does "Keep Case" become "Custom" as soon as it's wider than 14mm?

If I understand this description correctly, these Giant Robo and Space Pirate Mito cases are (LiteBox) keep cases, because they are still the standard keep case size:

How about this Vandread case? It's almost 1" thick, is still "styled" like a keep case, but doesn't fall within that 14mm limit and doesn't resemble any of the other case styles:

It's probably not an Earth-shattering matter, since this item is a few years old but has yet to gain its own entry (while a newer FUNimation release does), but neither will it kill me to simply ask.

All of those cases that I have seen so far were listed as keep case so far regardless of width since they are just variations on Keep cases.

A new (crappy) type of case... I've seen them listed as Stack Pack or Stack Pak or Stack Case.

It looks like a double think keep case from the outside, but inside is a single spindle with the discs stacked in a pile. The example below is 4 DVDs, but I have another one with 6. Note the block of foam on the left side of the case, it's there to stop the discs from falling off during shipping (did I say they were crappy? ). I thought the DigiPak things with overlapping discs were bad...

So, Keep Case or Custom (this one is entered as custom). I think keep case as it's not really custom, just a different type of keep case.
Tom.
